Chapter 39

One year later...

"Àlpha Ryder, your majesty", Royal guards guided him in the throne room.

I smiled and waved them off, they bowed and left the room. Ryder watched me as I put off the heavy crown and leaned backwards in the comfortable throne.

"Your majesty", he bowed, making me scoff.

"Don't do that", I groaned.

"I'm teasing you, love",

"I wanted to speak to you" I told him.

He moved closer and stopped at the stairs in front of my throne. My entire body was longing for him, I haven't seen him in weeks. I hated this, being apart from him, I couldn't wait to be married.

"Our marriage is in a few months and your coronation in two", I told him, he nodded,

"I wanted to discuss you duties",

He nodded again, we haven't talked about it yet. Our situation was different. He's an Alpha, he's used to being the powerful one, the dominant one. This was going to be hard, so I figured out a way.

"You're an alpha, I'm not giving you the duties of a Queen. First of all, you would get bored and second, you and charities don't work", he rolled his eyes, smirking.

"I know it's going to be a lot to adjust to, Mona-", I cut him off.

"I don't want you to feel trapped",

"Why would I feel trapped?",

"You're kind of being forced into this. You love the Adonis pack and I'm sure you don't want to give them up-".

"Of course I love them, but nothing comes even close to how much I love you", I felt quiet.

My heart went faster and I moved closer to him, cupping his face.

"You love structure and dominance",

"Yes?", he was unsure.

"What if I have decided to make you head of national security",

"That's your-",

"I know, but no one is as smart as you. You don't let your emotions impact your decisions, which is perfect for the job and I've discussed this with the council. They were more than happy in my decision, the Adonis pack has never lost any land and is one of the most secure packs maybe in the world, all because of you",

"I-I don't know what to say...",

I moved closer to him, pulling him into a tight hug. His black hair was getting long, he needed a haircut. I brushed it out of his eyes and placed a kiss on his forehead.

"You're my mate and I love you with my entire heart. I will do anything to keep a smile on your face. Because that's all I want, seeing you happy",

"Have I ever told you how amazing you are?"

"So you like it?",

"I love it. You don't know how happy you've just made me"

He swung me around in his arms and I giggled loudly. This was our future, together and happy. No one would ever take him away from me. I wouldn't let them, not anymore.

What happened with Pauline made me open my eyes and realize what mates truly are. Doubting that they love you will only worsen everything.

My hands were sweating and I tried to breath, but I've never been this stressed before, not even at my coronation. Today should feel great and absolutely magical, I was going to marry Ryder. Something I've wanted since the moment we've got together.
