The football game was nothing for me, since I didn't get it at all. Yeah, a shame for my country. Bla, bla, bla... But the fun thing was jumping around and the adrenaline filling my body. It was great to see us all unite to cheer for the same thing, it brought us closer. I liked that.
Eventually we won, but not by much. Rosalie explained it happens all the time. I didn't care, because they did win and that was the most important thing. Although for me. Rosalie guided me to the benches of the team, we wanted to congratulate Jayden. He really threw himself out there, I was surprised at how good he was. Because when I see him in the training room, he just eats chips and watches girls train. The worst thing is he still stays fit. Lucky ass.
"Congrats!" Me and Rosalie jump on him.
He's sweaty, but we still hug him tightly. He spun us around and we laughed. After a while he set us on the ground and gave us a toothy grin. His blond hair was messy and hung over his forehead, but those green eyes shone brightly. Jayden was really handsome, but it didn't attract me. Not as much as Ryder... The thought of Ryder made me back away a bit from Jayden.
"Thanks girls. You're wearing it!" He posted at the jersey.
"A promise is a promise." I smiled.
"Hey, Jay! Gonna shower?" His other teammates called him.
"Go, you smell like a pig." Rosalie instructed him.
He grinned and pulled her close in a hug, kissing her cheeks over and over again. She giggled and pushed him off. I eyed them in pleasure. They were quite cute together. When he was gone, I obviously told her.
"Why aren't you together with Jayden? He obviously likes you." I told her.
"You think?" She asked twirling her hair innocently.
"You like him!" I pointed out, she quickly covered my mouth.
"I have a tiny crush on him, but if Ryder finds out he'll kill him!" She hissed scared.
"Ryder?" I asked.
She paled and hit herself in the head. I eyed her in confusion. What would he do? They weren't related in a way. Right?
"Ryder is my older brother." She sighed.
"What?!" I asked loudly.
"I know, I should've told you. But it's just..." She sighed letting her hands drop in desperation.
"What is it?" I asked.
"We aren't really close after what happened to my friend..." She trailed off.
"Can you tell me what happened? You don't have to." I asked slowly.
We went to sit down on the bench and her whole body tensed up. Rosalie started at the ground and clenched her hands tightly.
"It was just a year ago. The Luna contest, once a year all the female wolfs compete against each other for a big prize. At the competition killing and hurting is allowed. At the time there was a Luna, Ryders first mate. I never liked her, she was so fake and it was like I was the only one to see it. But me and my best friend, Molly, we were teamed up together. And we stumbled upon her, she had five girls protecting her. The all came after me, so I couldn't help Molly out. S-she..." She cut herself off, whipping the tears away.
I laid my arm around her, suddenly guilty for asking her. Ryder had another mate? Was that even possible? I still knew little about this all, but they never told me you could have two mates.
"She killed her and I couldn't do anything. After she gave the fault to someone else, nobody believed me. So when Pauline turned rogue, I was happy. The entire pack was mourning, but she damn deserved it." Rosalie grunted.
"Pauline?' I asked breathlessly.
"Yeah. Why?" She looked at me.
"There's a mirror in my wall and her name is written on it." I breathed out.
"That's because your room was her old room." Rosalie explained.
My face fell and a jealous feeling tore up inside of me. I didn't like this Pauline, because she hurt Rosalie and was intimate with Ryder. It had to be.
"If Ryder is a bit more reserved and angry at times, he probably thinks about her. I mean she was a bitch, but his first mate. He was obsessed with her and even marked her-" I cut her off.
"What is marking?" I asked confused.
"It's a step of the mating process. If you and you're mate have got to know each other and you're sure that you want to spend the rest of your lives together. You can mark each other, to show the others you're his and he's yours."
"And did Pauline...did she mark Ryder?" I asked unsurely.
"Yes, but it faded away when she turned rogue. And now you've showed up, that means the moon goddess gave him a new chance." She said.
"So I'm just second option." I wondered, my eyed tearing up.
"No! Everything is fated. You were fated from the beginning, you were always going to be his mate. All that matters is that you're his mate." She insisted.
"And so is Pauline." I muttered.
"Once you turn rogue, you turn you're back to the moon goddess. She isn't his mate anymore, she lost her title and her everything once she turned rogue." She cleared out.
"How do you turn rogue?"
"When a rogue bites you. It happened at a rogue attack. She was too late at the safe room and a rogue bite her."
"Wow." I muttered.
The thought of Ryder going through such pain, hurt my heart and I grabbed to my chest. Rosalie caressed my back and pulled me in for a hug.
"Let's just go crazy tonight. Okay?" She suggested.
I smiled and nodded, I just had to forget everything for a while.
