River

The days flew by, but my mind was still haunted by the entire rejecting thing. I avoided Ryder like the plague, because I was still angry at him and because I was scared for him to reject me any minute. I still wondered why he hasn't done it already, it would solve a lot of problems, but I didn't want him too, I wanted him to reject Pauline. Stupid mate bond...

Today Ryder and Rosalie's parents would arrive, so the entire pack stood outside waiting. In front of the wide driveway Ryder stood next to Rosalie, this was the first time I saw her being treated with respect. It occurred to me now she really had Àlpha blood, because she stood there as a leader.

Next to Ryder stood Pauline, he was acknowledging her as his Luna more and more. That really didn't help with the fear of rejecting.  She looked over her shoulder sending me a evil smirk. I rolled my eyes and Marcus next to me, looked down.

"Don't let her get to you." He patted my back, just when a car drove in.

A couple stepped out, their parents. The man was an older version of Ryder, they shared the same hair color, squared jaw, high cheekbones and thick eyebrows. The woman looked like Rosalie, the same small chin, heart shaped face and straight nose. She and Ryder both got their dark blue eyes from her. But the woman had long blonde hair.

"Dad, mom." Ryder greeted, still in a authoritative position.

Another person followed after his parents out of the car. The girl was around  fourteen with long blond waves and the same blue eyes as Ryder and Rosalie, she resembled her mother more. Rosalie had mentioned a little sister before, I think. The girl had headphones in and a backpack on her bag.

"River." Ryder nodded at her, but she just walked past us all.

She passed me and I saw huge dark circles underneath her eyes. She looked exhausted up close, I wondered why. River came to a stop next to me, her ice cold eyes bore into me.

"Lunar." She whispered in my ear.

My eyes widened and I watched her go. I wanted to chase her, she just found out my biggest secret. Who was she? Or better asked What was she?

"Don't mind River, she's a bit different." Marcus told me.

I didn't acknowledge him, I just watched the little girl go. My body was screaming to go after her and so was my heart. But what could I do? Ask the truth? All I wanted was to know the truth, but I was scared of it.

It was almost time for diner and I was walking downstairs, when I heard soft piano sounds. It came from the living room, I never had went there because I was so busy being punished and all. The room had ten big couches, one large flatscreen with huge speakers, tables with snacks and a piano.

River sat at the piano playing Bach, but it didn't went well. She kept missing the right melody. I walked over and slowly sat down next to her. She didn't flinch, she just kept playing. I inspected her for a while and finally noticed what went wrong.

"Your left hand." I said, she stopped.

"You're playing the notes with the wrong fingers..." I grabbed a pencil and took the sheet.

I wrote the numbers above the notes and I could feel her burning stare. But I've been playing piano since I've been five and the song she was playing, I knew it for a long time.

"Play it." She instructed.

And I did as told, I sat straight and started to play. I didn't have to look at the sheet, I just know it by heart. Romy watched how I played, I tried to be as good as possible. But it has been a month since I've played now. I was a bit stiff.

"That's beautiful!" I turned around and saw her mother.

I smiled blushing. I stood up and shook her hand, she gave me such warm smile. How could she be related with grumpy ass Ryder?

"It's nice to meet you. I'm Ambrosia." I introduced myself.

"Nice to meet you too, dear. I'm Angelina, but call me Angie." The name suited her. She looked like an angel.

"Angie." I nodded.

"I've seen you helped River. She's been stuck for weeks now." She walked to her daughter, who replayed the piece over and over.

"It was a little misstep, she plays amazing." I shrugged it off.

"Then you have an eye for detail, her tutor didn't even find the mistake." Angie smiled, the sight almost blinded me.

"Mom." We turned around to see Ryder.

"Oh, honey, I just met Ambrosia. Isn't she wonderful? She helped River with her piano piece." Her mom reached out her hand and he grabbed it.

"That's very nice of her. But diner is ready." He quickly dismissed me as topic.

"Oh, come on River." River didn't reply.

"I haven't seen you in three months..." Ryder bowed down next to her.

"Come on, Princess, I have tons of presents for you." And he placed the sweetest kiss on her temple.

A warm smile stretched over my face and I laid a hand on my chest. He may be a completely asshole, but how he treated his little sister was heart meltingly cute. Ryder threw me a glance and a weak smile appeared on his face.

"Princess. I'm searching for the princess." She told him, turning to face him.

"Mother?" Ryder turned angry to Angie.

"Your sister is an official investigator in the case of the post princess." Angie announced.

"They're just taking advantage of her powers. Why would you and dad even permit it?!" He stood up, his mood completely vanished.

"Do you want the Ajax pack as your future rulers?!" His mom demanded angry.

"No, but that doesn't mean she needs to be the one who deals with the aftermath! Everybody knows she's death, why can't they just make another child?!" Ryder snapped angry.

"Once you'll have children you'll understand..." His mom walked to her children.

"Their first child was ripped away from them and they never even got to see her grow up. That's the worst thing that can happen to a parent." Her voice was close to a whisper.

Angie took River along to the cafeteria and I watched Ryder. I wanted to ask who this lost princess was or what the case was? But he didn't seem the person that cared about her or wanted to even name her. It looked like he hated her for doing this to his little sister.

"Go eat diner, Ambrosia. And that wasn't a request." He told me tiredly before returning to his office.

And for the first time I did as told.
