-Author's Note-
So I watched my first K-Drama which is called Missing 9 and it's about a group of idols stuck on a deserted island after a plane crash. It has Chanyeol in it which is amazing. I was hooked from episode 1 and I'm was so upset when it ended. I was on the edge of my seat for the whole series and I felt empty when I had no more episodes to watch. I would seriously recommend it if you want to watch a new k-drama. Anyway, enjoy!
"When is the ambulance coming again?" Kai asks, carefully watching over Sehun.
"Should be another ten minutes." Chanyeol says, checking his phone.
"What if one of those things gets to us before help does?" You notice Baekhyun trembling slightly as he speaks. Out of the group, the situation seems to be affecting him the most.
"Then we'll run. Towards the road seems like the best option, we might run into the ambulance if we go that way." Your words seem to relax Baekhyun and Chanyeol gives you an appreciative smile. Deciding that you should save your energy, you take a seat on the woodland floor. Chanyeol sits beside you.
"You're so calm, (y/n). If it weren't for you and Kai, the group would be a mess."
"I think you guys could handle yourselves. And you could easily take my place." The ground is soft and damp on your palms. Rays of light beam through the cracks between the leaves above you, illuminating the bed of twigs and fallen leaves around you. It's strange how the world is so chaotic right now, yet the forest stays calm.
"Not a chance. You're a fighter (y/n). If only one of us survives this, it will be you." He sounds genuine. You sigh, amused.
"With you guys. I wouldn't stand a chance on my own," Your quiet giggle draws Chanyeol's eyes to you. "That's why we should stick together until we find somewhere safe."
"Do you think anywhere is safe anymore?" You turn your head to meet Chanyeol's gaze.
"I think so. There must be. The world isn't going to end, even if those things take over."
"You're so hopeful. A dreamer." This brings a smile to your lips. The smile is mirrored across from you. This moment. It's so peaceful. It feels like nothing can go wrong. Like the world isn't falling apart. When you look into Chanyeol's eyes, it feels like a part of you is reflected in them. Hopes. Dreams. They're weaved into the deep brown rings that seem to shimmer in the light. You finally break eye contact as faint sirens echo in the distance.
"They're here!" Xiumin pushes himself to his feet. All eyes flicker towards the sound.
"Should we go out onto the road? We'll be easier to see." D.O looks around the group.
"They told us to wait here. They have our location. They'll come to us." The group silently agrees as Kai's calm tone seems to reassure everyone. The sirens get louder and louder. You would expect them to stop at some point. There would be no point keeping them on. You've seen enough Walking Dead to know that loud noises in a zombie apocalypse are not a good thing. But the sirens don't stop. They blare through the forest, shattering the peace as if it was glass. The constant ringing, it makes you uncomfortable. You aren't too far from the road. Shouldn't they be searching for you now? Calling out for you? None of you wants to argue with Kai, so you all just sit in silence. After a while, you check your phone again. It's been 12 minutes since you first heard the sirens.
"Shouldn't they have found us by now?" Sehun mumbles, still a little dazed.
"Maybe we should check it out..." Chanyeol suggests, leaping to his feet.
"But some of us should stay here, just in case they are actually looking for us." You look up to see his figure towering above you, holding out a hand. Taking it, you are suddenly pulled to your feet. "Thanks."
"I don't know... I don't think we should be splitting up." Kai pushes his damp hair out of his face.
"They might be in trouble. Those sirens haven't stopped. I think we should go and see. A small group though, 2 or 3 so we don't attract attention." You're glad to see Chanyeol stepping up to a sort of leadership role.
"Chen, Suho and Sehun would obviously have to stay behind. Xiumin, Baekhyun, Lay and D.O are all a little scraped up but seem okay." You turn to Kai to hear his verdict.
"Alright. Chanyeol, (y/n), you're with me." As soon as the words leave his lips, you notice a small smirk appear on Chanyeol's face out of the corner of your eye. Is he excited about this? "Xiumin, you look after the group. If anything happens, call one of us. If you need to, run to the road, but make sure that Chen, Suho and Sehun get there first."
"Okay, be careful." Xiumin and the others wish you luck and the three of you set off towards the road. The sound of the sirens doesn't give you the safe feeling you had when you first heard them. In fact, the sound makes you want to turn and sprint away as fast as you can. Kai walks slightly ahead of you, whilst Chanyeol stays close by your side. You don't know why, but it's comforting.
"(y/n)," Chanyeol says quietly. "If something goes wrong, you shouldn't wait for us. Just run and try to get back to the group as quickly as possible."
"Are you kidding? I'm not leaving either of you behind." Why is he so concerned about you? You only met him a day ago.
"(y/n)-"
"No Chanyeol. As I said before; In order to survive, we need to stick together." He's silent for a moment before sighing through a smile.
"Okay."
