Chapter 28

Snow day = no school = writing time

I was originally going to split this into two separate chapters, but I decided against it. So prepare for a long chapter!

"So I guess we just go back to our chores until they find a solution?" Xiumin checks his watch. 

"I think so." Chen shrugs. "I don't need to go till 3." 

"My shift just ended, so I'm free for the day." You turn to Chanyeol. "What about you?"

"I'm still on food duty for another hour." He sighs, you know that he wants to spend more time with you. As Chanyeol begins to stand, a tall lady hurries over to you.

"Excuse me, you're the musician, right?" She looks very stressed out. 

"I mean, technically we're all  musicians." Chen mutters through his teeth. Her face seems to light up at his words.

"You're part of a group right? How many of you are there?"

"Ni- Eight. There's eight of us." Chen's gaze falls to the ground as he corrects himself.

"And you can all sing?"

"And dance." Xiumin adds with a proud grin.

"Perfect! You see, with everything that's happening, people are starting to panic and lose hope. I was thinking that maybe a performance would cheer everyone up."

"I don't know..." Chanyeol mumbles. 

"Please, give the people a reason to smile again." 

"We'll have to talk to the others about it."

"Alright well, if you decide to then just come and find me." She turns on her heels and hurries off as if she has urgent business to attend to.

"What do you guys think?" You ask. 

"I don't have a problem with it." Xiumin shrugs.

"If it'll make people happy then I'm up for it," Chen nods. "I think the others will feel the same."

"Chanyeol?" You ask softly, placing your hand over his. "I'd love to hear you play again." You tilt your head slightly, drawing his attention to your guitar on the floor. He turns to you, his lips curling into a bright smile.

"How could I say no to that?" Chanyeol chuckles. "I have to get back. Duty calls."

"Alright, see you later." He gives you a quick kiss before standing up and making his way to the cafeteria. Xiumin sighs romantically, leaning slightly on Chen who rolls his eyes with a smile.

"You know, I've never seen him like that with any girl before." Xiumin says hazily.

"Oh come on, he must have been in relationships before." You try to seem careless, but you've always been curious about the idol's love life.

"I mean yeah, but it wasn't anything like this."

"Well, we are in a zombie apocalypse." 

"It's not that. The way he acts around you, the way he looks at you, it's just- I don't know how to describe it. His heart's always belonged to music but now... I think he's found something more important."

"Xiumin," You feel your cheeks heating up, are you really that important to him? He starts to speak before you can say anything, it's not like you know what say anyway.

"Let's go find the others. I know that Lay and Suho are on patrol, I can go get them." 

"I think D.O's in the kitchens, no idea where the others are though." Chen adds.
