Saturday night came; the reception room was packed. There were girls laughing and dancing to the music. There were also a few guests who tagged along with them - mostly boys.

As the music grew louder and louder, Sarah, Freya and Clare decided to dance on the floor. Their dresses were spectacular. Freya wore a bright red short dress with sparkles and black heels. Clare wore a light blue short dress with blue short high heels. Sarah wore lilac with black low heels. Anthony had done it again.

In exchange for the dresses, the girls took him out to the ice cream parlor. The group had a blast and they ate so much that they had to skip dinner.

It was worth it.

The girls happily twirled and sang loudly to their favourite tunes, distancing themselves from the world around them. They were in their own bubble and no one could burst it now. Unless someone in the group burst it accidentally.

Sarah and Freya were spinning around as they took each other's arms when Freya told Sarah to look out. Sarah couldn't hear her friend. Instead, she collided with a boy. Both of them fell on the floor. Sarah looked to see who the person was. She gasped in horror. In front of her, dressed in a tux and with orange juice on his white shirt, was William Hart.

When he saw her, William laughed. "Do you always have a habit of bumping into people?"

Sarah wasn't laughing. "I'm really sorry", she replied. She was shaking.

William noticed her reaction, "Don't worry", he said as he helped her up, "I won't bite".

In response, Sarah giggled nervously.

"I never had a chance to get to know you, Sarah".

"Guess we were busy".

"I guess. But, I want to make it up to you". William then held his hand out to Sarah. "May I have this dance?"

"Yes, please", Sarah replied excitedly. She quickly placed her hands in front of William.

He took them and led her to the dance floor, where they danced gently.

Sarah, however, kept stepping on William's feet and bumping into him; accidentally knocking her forehead onto his chin but as they took their last step, Sarah and William bumped into each other and fell down onto the floor. Sarah was so embarrassed, but William just laughed.

"I think I'll stick to dancing to Ronnie Matthews instead of waltzing", she confessed.

"Probably best to practice", William replied. He then looked at the door that led out to the field. "Would you like some fresh air".

Sarah was alarmed. "I can't, but I'm happy to go to the bar".

"The bar it is then".

Although the time was creeping up on them, the night was still young for Sarah and William. They were having a wonderful time talking to each other. Most of the conversation, it was just the pair of them but they also talked to Freya, Clare and the girls from the team.

William was very popular with the ladies and most of them were very jealous of Sarah. Sarah didn't notice; all of her attention was on the boy himself. She never dreamt standing next to a picture perfect human being, let alone speak to him. This was certainly a night to remember.

As the party came to its conclusion, William and Sarah were gently dancing to a new song from Ronnie Matthews. Only hearing the melody, the pair smiled, glazing into each other's eyes. William noticed that Sarah's were twinkling.

"A star from the sky", he mouthed. He knew that Sarah couldn't hear over the loud stereo, so mouthing the words was the only option.

Sarah blushed. She was touched by his words. I wish I could have spoken to him earlier, she thought. But meeting him tonight was incredible.

"Would you like me to walk you home?" William asked Sarah as the music died down.

Sarah shook her head. "I promised someone that I would wait for them. The girls are coming back with me too".

"Perhaps another time", William replied. "Until then, keep shining brighter, little star". He kissed her hand  once more before he left the hall.

Sarah was lost in a trance; she couldn't believe what just happened. She tried to trace her memories of William from her mind, but it was no good. Once, twice - nothing. It was clear that Sarah had a crush on William. A secret crush.
