Arnold helped Sarah clear up the milk before they headed over to the Boarding House.
Across the road, Miles and Stella were waiting for Arnold outside the door. They were surprised to see Sarah in a state. They thought she would be at home, safe and sound but when Arnold told them about the incident, they were horrified. They hoped she would be okay; the couple grew to love Sarah and they would hate it if they heard or saw her being upset.
"Hello, Sarah", Stella said. "I'm sorry about what happened today". She noticed a tear streaming down the girl's face, so she gently wiped it away with her fingers.
"It's okay, Mrs Shortman", Sarah replied. "These things happen sometimes".
"Well, you are a brave young lady. A courage of a lion, shall we say?" Both Stella and Sarah laughed.
Sarah hadn't interacted with adults for a long time but she was glad to be interacting with Arnold's family.
"Mum? Dad?" Arnold asked. "Is it okay if Sarah joins us?"
"Of course she can, son", Miles replied delightfully. "You like botanical gardens, Sarah?"
"Oh, yes, Mr Shortman. I love them so much".
"Well, you are in luck", Stella added. "Our local gardens have a new Rain-forest Exhibit. So you and Arnold are in for a treat".
"Great!" Arnold and Sarah answered. "We cannot wait!"
