"Billy, why do I have to go?"

He just stared at you, a burning cigarette between his fingers while he licked his lips smoothly. You stood in front of him, hands gripping your backpack straps.

"Because, ____, I told you to." He answered.

You swallowed thickly, like a cotton ball was being forced down your throat. "But, Billy. What if I-"

"You're going, alright?" He yelled, stepping closer to you as you shrunk back slightly, smelling the burning paper of the cigarette.

You nodded quickly and he took a step back as Max approached, glancing between you two before getting in the car and not saying a word. She never was supposed to step in during an argument between you two.

"I'll pick you up at eight o'clock."

He flicked the cigarette to the ground, stomping on it before planting a quick peck of a kiss on your cheek. You were shaking ferociously but you couldn't show that side of you.

Billy hated seeing the weak side of you. Sometimes he enjoyed it, other times he despised it. You weren't entirely sure.

He backed out of the school's parking lot, driving quickly down the road and towards his house as you let out a sigh you had been holding in so tightly.

You felt like such an idiot.

Your friends warned you about Billy and you didn't listen. You didn't want to listen. In fact, you thought it would be fun. But all he did was hurt you and bring you down even more.

"Hey, I saw what happened from over there. Is everything okay?" You heard a girl ask you.

"Yeah, I'm fine." You muttered. You weren't.

The girl cleared her throat again, sticking out a hand for you to shake. "I'm Nancy. Nancy Wheeler."

You glanced up to her before realizing she was a genuinely nice looking person with a good heart. You felt a smile bloom on your cherry pink lips.

"I'm ____."

She shrugged in the direction that Billy's car headed. "What's up with him?"

"Uh," You started. "He's my boyfriend. We've been, uh, dating basically ever since he got here."

Nancy laughed. "Short time, then. How's it working out for you?"

You sighed. "You saw it."

She nodded. "Yeah, I saw it but I have no actual knowledge of it. I can see things but not fully understand them."

You tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. "Well, it's a mess. Are you going to a party tonight because Billy is forcing me to go."

Nancy smiled. "Yeah, actually. So, I'll see you there?"

"Of course."

-
Billy stood outside your house, leaning against his car with a newly lit cigarette between his fingers. You never liked his smoking habits but you couldn't control him and he made sure of it.

"You ready?" He asked, watching as you walked out in one of his favorite dresses that he said showed off your legs which he loved as well.

"Yeah, I think so." You said, walking over to where Billy was. He reached out with his free hand, pulling you towards him to admire you from top to bottom.

"Alright, lets go." He said, stomping the small flame on the cigarette and waiting for you to get in.

Once in, he was off in a hurry to get to the party.

-
You stepped out of Billy's car as he pulled you eagerly to the sound of music, lights, and drunken people.

"I'm so ready to get wasted." He said. You could only smile at his comment before he turned around with your hand in his, dragging you along.

The smell of alcohol hit you in face as soon as you stepped in the door but Billy dragged you straight towards it.

It was going to be a long night.

-
"King Steve is what they all call you, huh?" Billy yelled over the loud music as you stayed behind him, trying not to get caught up in anything.

"You're not much of a king anymore, are you Harrington?"

Nancy glanced towards you. You looked scared. Scared of not only Billy but his yelling and antics. It was not okay.

Steve stared back at him. "I might not be a king anymore but at least I don't abuse my girlfriend."

Billy looked from Steve's eyes to yours within a matter of seconds. You looked up at Billy, waiting for something to hit you but nothing did except for his lips.

They tasted salty, dirty, and had the faint taste of a fresh cigarette on them. It's not that you didn't like them, it's that you didn't like him.

When he let go, he had that look in his eye to be quiet or else. You obeyed silently.

"See, she's fine."

You nodded your head like Billy would ask you to do.

It was all it could do.
