"Aw, come on." Billy muttered against the skin of your neck.

You tried to get him off of you, pushing him ever so slightly, putting space between you two, and shoving him back on several occasions but to no avail.

"Billy, please let me go." You muttered softly, trying to keep your voice soft in order to keep his anger level low.

He sighed, releasing his grip on you as you let out a sigh of relief. Leaning down, you began picking up your books that had been slid down the wall earlier.

When you came back up, Billy had his eyes on you.

"What is it?" You asked him, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear as he continued to stare before looking off towards the wall.

He seemed so focused on something.

"Every time I say something to you- you seem scared of me. Are you actually scared of me?" He asked you.

You tried to carefully construct your sentence.

"You're just intimidating at points."

Billy paused, nodding as he looked back over at you. You scanned his eyes, a terrified sparkle twinkling in your eye as you tried to hide it from his sight.

He didn't notice.

"Billy?" You asked him.

"You know, I've been wanting someone to love me for a very long time and then I found you." Billy began.

You stopped. You were feeling the anxiety growing quite rapidly in your chest as you waited for the rest of the sentence.

"I found you- and you showed me that being an asshole isn't the best thing in the world." Billy scoffed. "How did you even come to like me?"

"Because people can change." You said softly, staring off and away from him.

He nodded, pulling you to him in a soft embrace. It caught you so off guard you physically let out a gasp.

"Is everything okay?" He asked.

You nodded. "Yeah."

"It's just different."

He nodded. "I know."

You stood in silence for a second before he let go and said, "Time after time, ____. I come running back to you. No matter how much of an asshole I can be- I will always deep down love and care for you."

You smiled, your heart soaring with happiness.

Maybe Billy Hargrove could change.
