"Is everything okay?" Nancy asked you while you both walked in time up to the school building. Her eyes scanned your face for any sign of emotions.

You nodded. "Yeah."

Nancy pouted. "That didn't sound convincing."

You sighed, watching your feet move along the pavement before deciding to answer honestly. "It's just that, Christmas is coming soon and Steve promised me that he'd get me something for Christmas and it's sweet."

"And what's the problem then?"

You bit your lip out of nerves. "I'm not sure what to get him."

Nancy chuckled. "That's it? That's what's bothering you?"

"I mean, yeah! You get it. You've dated Steve before and now Jonathon. You have experience with this, Nancy. Can you help?"

She nodded, holding the door open for you while the two of you made it inside the building. "Yeah, of course. Anything to help you out. Although, I have to warn you."

"What is it?" You asked hesitantly.

"Steve tends to go all out for a gift for his girlfriends. That's how I got my new phone, new record player, and about four new bracelets."

"That was all from him? Damn. Harrington can go all out, can't he?" You replied, chuckling back in response. Nancy laughed as well, following you to your locker. "Are you sure that's all that's bothering you?"

You shrugged.

"Still haven't told him about the smoking habit?"

"Yeah."

Nancy shook her head, looking off down the hallway.

"Hey, in coming." Nancy whispered softly to you. Your eyes continued to stare into your locker before Tommy and Carol strode up, patting you on the back.

You turned around slowly, Nancy keeping her eyes on the two of them.

"Yes?" You asked sweetly, staring up at Tommy's freckled face. He smiled, biting his lip softly before meeting your eyes again.

"Heard you and Harrington would be exchanging gifts this year. Any, uh, special ones?"

Carol laughed into the palm of her hand, Nancy giving her a hard glare from your side.

"Fuck off, Tommy."

Your soft eyes glanced behind the two people in front of you, finding Steve standing behind them.

"It's none of your business what we do outside of school and during our personal lives."

Tommy glanced up towards his ex-best friend, his arm flung around Carol's shoulders before getting closer to him. "Don't test me, Harrington."

"Beat it." He replied back to the freckled face boy. Tommy grumbled something under his breath before walking away from the three of you.

"Did he say anything else to you?" Steve immediately asked after he had left. You shook your head. "No."

"Good. Glad that son of a bitch is out of my life." Steve replied, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead before remembering another thought he had.

"Oh, so I'm having a christmas party at my place tomorrow. Parents won't be home so expect cigarettes and drinks on me."

You smiled. "Be sure to expect me there."

The bell rang overhead causing Nancy to say goodbye to the two of you before rushing off to class. You smiled up at your boyfriend one last time, giving him a light kiss, and then heading off to class yourself.
