You never liked basketball.
The squeaky shoes against the shiny floor, sweat dripping down the players in waterfalls, and the loud buzzer.
But after somehow being dragged into a deep relationship with the new school's grade A douchebag, you were forced to go to the games and the period he had basketball just so you could watch him play.
He didn't allow anything otherwise.
Victory sounded from the main floor as you sighed, your head rested in your hand as you stared out into the court where Billy was chucking to himself and teammates.
"That's how you do it!" He exclaimed loudly, whooping a little afterwards. His eyes glanced over to yours, seeing you looked bored to hell sitting on those uncomfortable bleachers.
You saw him begin to walk over to where you were sitting and you didn't even bother to change your facial expression.
"What's your deal?" He asked as he got closer to you, sitting on the bleacher in front of you. "Why aren't you giving a shit about this?"
"Because, Billy," You started, "This isn't my type of thing." You allowed a small sigh to escape between your lips as he scooted closer.
"Well, it's my sort of thing."
You smiled sarcastically. "Good for you."
"Hey!" He yelled, catching everyone's attention as he stood up, towering over you.
You now had fear in your eyes as you leaned backwards, looking up at him as he leaned down towards you.
"You'll watch me play this basketball game, and beat the shit out of Harrington over there," He started. "Or, you'll pay for it later."
You didn't nod, but a few tears were shown in your eyes as Billy headed back down to the court.
You watched him go, wiping away the tears with the sleeve of your shirt as you stared down towards your feet, looking back up when you remembered what he had told you.
You honestly weren't sure why you did this anymore.

After the period ending bell had rang, you didn't move. Billy told you to stay afterwards so that he could come and get you, but to not let any other guy touch you or talk to you. However, Steve Harrington made his way over to you.
"Hey, you okay?" He asked gently.
You looked up, wiping away the tears that were running down your cheeks. "Uh, yeah. I'm good." You mumbled out, sounding unconvincing.
Steve raised an eyebrow. "Clearly you aren't. Why are you with him?" He asked, gently once again.
You looked up. "Look, I'm not supposed to be talking to any guys or else-"
"Harrington!" You heard Billy suddenly yell.
"Shit." You muttered, scooting slightly away from Steve who just nodded in response to your actions.
"What are you doing with my girl?"
"Actually treating her right." He yelled back, fanning the flames even more.
Billy licked his bottom lip in annoyance. He pointed his finger in the direction of you. "I'm not sure if you know my rules with my girl, Harrington."
He shrugged. "You wanna play a game of ball and figure this out?"
Billy kept walking towards him, making you frightened of what he was going to do when he got close to you.
"Sure, Harrington. You'll lose just like you lost your girl so I suggest you leave mine alone." He practically growled out.
Steve just threw the ball to the court. "Let's go, Billy."
The two guys headed down to the court, where you secretly smiled over at Steve who tossed Billy the ball. He bounced it back before they began the game, Billy easily scoring within the first few seconds.
"You're not doing it right. You have to stand your ground when someone comes to take it from you." Billy yelled over towards Steve.
"Come on, let's get this over with."
Billy didn't do anything, just laughed. "Yeah, okay. You scared?"
You rolled your eyes. You were still slightly puffy eyed from the crying but at least Billy's stupid comments were helping you out.
"No. Just trying to get this over with and win to prove that I can take better care of her than you can."
Billy growled, easily shoving Steve down before scoring. That happened multiple upon multiple times before Steve finally gave in.
"Fine! I give up!" He said, throwing his hands into the air before walking off towards the showers.
Billy looked up at you, seeing you sitting on the bleachers attentive.
"That'll teach you to mess with my girl, Harrington." He mumbled to himself before scoring one more basket.
