Clover🍀

When Kiki said that we would go to the arcade, I felt my blood rush out of my face. What was I going to do?

Yet, after being there for an hour, I admit that there were many things that I could do. I had fun.

Kiki had left me holding a table to keep my balance for a few seconds when I felt a hand on my shoulder. Then there was another one.

"Oh, hi Terry...Max?" I said as I analyzed which hand was which.

"Both actually," Max answered.

Terry cut in,"Clover I need to talk to you."

"Oh, sure, hold on Max." I grabbed Terry's arm.

"No, I need to talk to you first," Max interrupted.

"Well, who needs to go first?" I asked.

"Me!" Both of them said.

"Well, how about a game. Say rock, paper, or scissors when I count to three." I didn't know how to figure out a solution, so I figured this was the best option.

"Okay," Max said.

"Fine with me," Terry agreed.

"Okay ready?" I asked.

"1...2...3!" I said.

"Rock!" Max said. "Paper!" Terry said with confidence.

I guess that meant that Terry won. I still didn't understand why both of them needed to talk to me. It just seemed like an off request.

"Ha, I win, okay so come over here Clover."

"Okay, Max, I'll be right back."

He lead me to a corner on the other side of the room.

"Okay, what is it?" I asked nervous and hoping it had something to do with our relationship.

"Okay, so, here's the thing," he declared.

"Yeah?"

"I really like you," he said in his southern accent. "Will you go out with me?"

"Meep!" I accidentally squealed. "M-me?"

"Yes, of course you," he laughed.

"Uh, well, can I think about it for a few hours, I promise to give you an answer before we leave."

"Sure, take the time you need," he said as he lead me back to where Max was.

"She's all yours," I heard Terry say.

Max just stepped a little off, just enough so Terry couldn't hear, to talk.

"Okay, so what did you need to tell me?"

"I just, I wanted to, maybe..." he drifted off for a few seconds and then blurted out, "If you'd want to go out with me!"

I stood there frozen in disbelief. Is this why they both wanted to go first? What do I say? What do I do?

"Clover?" he said, snapping me back to the situation.

"Oh, yeah, ehm, right!" I stuttered. "I, can I think about it? I promise to answer you before we leave the mall."

"Uh, yeah, sure, take all the time you need, well, I mean, I still want an answer before we leave, so..."

"Yeah, yeah, I just, have to, yeah!" I made everything awkward.

"Okay, um, hey look! Kiki is calling us, let's go."

"Yeah," I said high-pitched.

We got back to our group and managed to act like normal human beings.
