Terry 🌳
The arcade was fun. I played air hockey with Max for a chance to ask Clover out, until we both realized we were being silly. I thought I had her when I got her attention first after our game, but Max got her attention too.
She told us to pick between rock paper and scissors. I thought about it. Most people always pick scissors. Most people know that, so if Max is smart he'll go for rock, which means I can win if I say paper.
Easy enough I won and got to talk with her first. I asked her out but she had to think about it so Max was able to ask her out too. Now she had to choose, but we didn't do that. She has the chance to go out with both of us now. I'm up first we decided because I won the match before. We agreed to go out next Saturday even though I would have liked it to be tomorrow. Except that was Christmas Eve.
At least I had time to plan something awesome. I got home and was greeted by my mom who was sitting in our living room.
"Hey, how'd it go hun?"
"Great actually. I'm going out with her next Saturday."
"That's great sweetie. Great way to end the year," she said coming over to hug me.
"Yeah, it was a bit confusing, but I really hope it goes well. I just need to plan it..." I said looking up at her mischievous smile practically begging her to help me with my eyes.
"You want some help?"
"Sure," I said happily.
I got to bed after finishing the wrapping on my parent's gifts for tomorrow.
Christmas went well for him and I
really want to skip to the date so here goes nothing. A week has gone by and Terry planned a picnic with help from his mom.Date Day:
I was so ready for today! Clover would spend time with me alone. When have I gotten this chance before in a place that hasn't been school?
It was almost 5, so I changed into a nice shirt and a compromise between dress pants and jeans. It would be at night because there was a music festival tonight. I figured it was great since Clover would definitely enjoy music that she could hear.
My mom drove me to her house and I got out and knocked on her front door. Her mom opened up and let me inside. She was really nice.
"Terry right?" I nodded. "Oh, well don't you look handsome? I'll go help Clover, bring her in just a second."
I sat on the couch and waited. A few moments later, Clover came out wearing a knee-length dress that was a lilac color. I felt myself blushing pink. I was thankful she couldn't see that. Unfortunately, her mom did, and she got this sappy look on her face.
"Your mother is taking you right?" Mrs. Ucare asked.
"Yes, she is right outside. Don't worry it will only be a couple of hours."
"Oh, don't worry about that, I'm not that type of parent, just be thankful her father is on a trip," she giggled.
"Thanks mom," Clover thanked.
We got outside, and I would've said something to her, but I was suddenly feeling really shy, I just knew I couldn't say anything without stammering.
I opened the door for her and my mom dropped us off at the park.
When she left, I regained a bit of my confidence.
"You look beautiful," I told her.
"Thanks," she said blushing.
"I hope this goes well," I muttered to myself.
"Well, why wouldn't it?" Clover asked surprising me.
"You- you heard that?" She nodded. "I just don't have the best luck in certain situations. It's silly."
"It is silly," she laughed. "I don't believe in luck. Luck is just an excuse for people who don't want to take chances. Life is what you make of it."
I smiled at her comment. We made it to a nice spot at a hill where we were alone but could still hear the music.
I set up and noticed that Clover was sitting on the blanket in silence.
"Is this okay? You didn't want me to take you to something more expensive did you? I mean I could change it-"
"No, no, no, no, no! This is...perfect. I was just... enjoying the silence for a minute, the thought of everything being at peace... for an instant... At least in my head."
"I get it." I said sitting next to her. I put my arm around her and felt comfortable.
"So, are we gonna get to know each other or what?" Clover said scooting into the middle of the blanket.
"Oh, sure. We should make a system for it. How about, every time a one of us says the others name, the other one gets to ask a personal question. Like if I say Clover right now, you would get to ask me a question."
"Sounds great Terry- oh- shoot, already?"
"Rules are rules. So, what's your favorite song?"
"Oh, um... I think I'd say Kiss Me for the time being by Sixpence none the richer. You know that old song right?"
"Not that I remember. Let me play it."
I played the song and enjoyed it.
"That was really good, I can't believe I hadn't heard of it before."
Just then they announced they would start the show and the first band went up to perform.
It was a good song. And we heard everyone clapping in the end.
"What did you think Clover?"
"It was a happy song. Really upbeat... So, how many girlfriends have you had before?"
"Huh? Oh shoot, I said your name didn't I?"
She giggled.
"That's kind of an awkward question but believe it or not, only one. It was last year."
"Oh, well can I hear the story? Who was it?"
"I guess, well her name was Alex. We met halfway through the year. We were pretty close, I didn't exactly feel that way about her when she first asked me out. I know it's really messed up, but I said yes so I wouldn't hurt her feelings."
"Really? Oh, but you said at first, did you like her afterwards?"
"Yeah, I started liking her, at least the way she was around me. We had prom at the end of the year. I asked her, and we went together."
"Oh, but you-what happened?"
"When we got there, she went over to her friends, who were just there as a group with no dates, and started bragging about having a date. She kind of made fun of them because they didn't have dates. She didn't know I heard, so I surprised her by confronting her about it later. She told me that the point of prom was to have a date. She said that that was the reason why she dated me, to have a date to prom," I frowned. I could tell that Clover regretted asking about the story. "So, anyway, I ended up screaming as loud as I could, 'I'm leaving and breaking up with you!' So that everyone would hear. She deserved it I think."
"Definitely Terr," she smiled.
"So, what did you think of our kiss from a few months ago?"
She blushed. "W-well, I c-can't really judge, s-since it was my first one. I think it w-went well though."
"Really?" I said leaning in closer.
"Yeah," she said nervously.
"Would you do it again?" I asked as I leaned in even closer.
"Maybe," she said, blushing red.
I decided to give her her second kiss right then.
