Lucy's POV

I walk into the house through the garage, fully expecting to be yelled at for not coming home last night. My mom is talking on the phone to someone, so I sit down on a bar stool in the kitchen. She sees me, and puts a finger up, telling me to 'wait a minute'.

"Yes!..... I know! I'm so happy!" She says into the phone, enthusiastically. "Alright, well, Lucy just got home so I'm going to go tell her the great news!... Alright. You too. Buh-bye!"

As she hangs up I give her a confused look.

"Honey! I have something to tellllll you!" She sings.

"I know, I heard. What is it?"

"Brandon has a girlfriend! She's a med student like him and he's been keeping her a secret for a few months! But, she's coming for dinner tomorrow night!" She says. Leave it to my mom to be so excited over something so little. What's the big deal? She would never care this much about me getting a boyfriend. Wait. Ansel. I do have a boyfriend!

"Greeeeeat. Sounds fun!" I say and fake a smile. At least this 'news' is getting me off the hook for staying out last night. When Brandon has something going on, Daniel and I are completely forgotten. "Wait, can I bring someone to dinner?"

"Sure, the more the merrier!" My mom exclaims. I make a mental note to thank Brandon for causing her good mood.

Maybe this family dinner won't be as lame as I thought.

After taking a shower and changing clothes, I lay on my bed and decide to call Ansel.

"Hey there, I thought you'd never call." He picks up.

"Well, you thought wrong. So, I was wondering if you'd do me a favor?" I say, crossing my fingers that he'd come to the dinner.

"Hmm, what kind of favor?" He asks.

"Would you come to dinner at my house tomorrow? My brother has this new girlfriend and-"

"I'd love to!" Ansel cuts me off. Well, that was easy.

"Alright be here at six." I hear a knock on my door. "Alright, I have to go. See you tomorrow." Ansel says goodbye and I hang up. I get off my bed and go to answer my door.

When I see who it is, my body fills with happiness.

{sorryyyyyyy! I've been leaving off with cliffhangers a lot lately but I love them! }
