Lucy's POV
"I have an idea!" Ansel says, sitting up on the blanket. We're having a picnic by the lake on Ansel's family's property. Fall is in full bloom and the scenery is breathtaking.
"What?" I ask. Ansel was laying down, looking at the clouds, but now he's facing me. Excitement fills his face.
"We should both plan really good dates. Like I'll plan one really extraordinary and you plan a different one. Make sense?"
"Um, sure. When will these dates take place?" I ask.
"Well, who should go first?"
"Definitely you. We have to save the best for last." I tease.
"Alright, alright. Fair enough. How about tomorrow?"
"Are you sure you don't need more time to plan?"
"Nope. In my head, there's a date that will sweep you off your feet."
"I can't wait." I say, and give him a kiss.
What am I getting myself in to?
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Around noon the next day I receive a bouquet of roses with a note attached that said:
Be ready for the best night of your life by 6 :)
-Ansel
It was such a sweet thing to do. I had never gotten flowers from a boy before.
I did as the note instructed and made sure to get ready as soon as possible.
As I stand in the shower, I try to think of what Ansel might be planning. I'm very nervous, but I trust him, so in the end I know I'll be okay.
I put on a very simple, yet elegant dress with some tights to keep me warm from the fall chill. I decide to take a risk and wear black wedges. Even with the highest heels in the world, I still wouldn't be close to being taller than Ansel. I can't even walk in heels, though, so the wedges will do.
I curl my hair, burning my fingers several times. I have not yet mastered curling my hair, the scars on my hands are proof.
You know you're special when I curl my hair for you. That's a fact.
After I put on some makeup, I check the clock. It's 5:45, but I know Ansel will be here soon. He loves being early.
"Honey! Ansel is here!" My dad yells from downstairs.
"I'll be right down!" I collect my necessities- phone, money, lipgloss, mirror- and throw them in a small clutch.
Why am I so nervous? I feel like I'm going on my first date with Ansel.
I take my shoes off before walking downstairs, and when I reach the bottom, I put them back on. Ansel is waiting at the bottom, smirking. He's wearing a fancy suit.
"What?" I say.
"You're so beautiful."
"As are you." I smile and kiss him on the cheek.
"Ready to go?" He asks, holding out his hand.
"Yep! Wait. No. Hold on." I start to take my shoes off again but Ansel stops me.
"Here, get on my back."
"No, it's fine. I-"
"Come on, trust me." He says and I give in.
He gives me a piggyback ride up the stairs and lets me down in front of my bathroom. Ansel is such a gentleman. It wouldn't have even been a huge deal for me to go upstairs, but he insisted.
I go into my bathroom and look in the jewelry tray. I slip the ring Ansel gave me for my birthday on my finger. I never leave the house without it. I take it off while showering, but that's about it.
"Ready." I say as we head back down the stairs. This time I insisted I'd walk, holding on to Ansel's arm for better balance.
We say goodbye to my parents and he leads my out the door, holding my hand.
"So, where are we going?" I asked.
"You'll just have to wait and see, my love."
I guess I'll just have to go along for the ride..
{Question Of The Chapter: what country do you live in? And if you had the chance to live in a different country, what would it be?
I live in America, but if I could live in a different country it'd be England, Australia or New Zealand. I've never been out of the US before though :/ }
