Lucy's POV

I try calling Ansel several times but it goes straight to his voicemail. Why is he overreacting so much?

"Hey, it's me. Obviously. I found out why you're so pissed. I need you to answer so I can explain. Trust me, this is all just a misunderstanding." I say, leaving a message.

He's probably home by now so I decide to go to his apartment. I will not let our relationship be hurt by some stupid text.

I knock very loudly to make sure he hears it.

"Don't!" I hear coming from inside.

Seconds later, Cory opens the door.

"Hey, Lucy. Ansel's not home right now."

"Oh really? Because I'm pretty sure I saw his car."

"Well, he went on a jog."

"Okay, I'll just wait for him to get back, then."

"Okay." I can tell he's given up.

"Look, I know he's here, and maybe he wants to be a coward and all, but I just want to talk to him. He doesn't even know why he's mad."

Cory moves out of the way to let me in and I walk back to Ansel's room. The door is shut. I don't bother knocking because if I did he wouldn't let me in.

"Ansel?" I say as I slowly open the door.

"What?"

"Are you mad at me?"

"Yes, Lucy. I know it's hard to believe, but yes. I'm mad at you."

"Is it because of this?" I hold up my phone with the text on the screen. I already know this is why he's mad. There is absolutely no other reason for him to be.

"Mhm. Now go."

"Ansel. I'm not leaving until you let me talk."

"Fine, then. Talk."

"I have no clue who this text is from."

"That's what they all say. Are you sure you didn't have any crazy college nights since classes started? Huh? Maybe you got really drunk, hooked up with a guy and forgot all about it?"

"I am a virgin. Still. I would never cheat on you. And I don't drink. All I've been doing is studying and hanging out with you and friends. Girl friends." I argue.

"Okay, well. You got a text before that. You said it was Brandon. You lied."

"No, I didn't. The first text really was Brandon. The one you saw from this unknown number? It was the first one I've ever gotten from that number."

"Alright. I guess I believe you. I'm sorry I made such a big deal. I shouldn't jump to conclusions. I don't know why I'm being dramatic, I guess it's because we've barely had time together."

"It's okay. I'm glad we worked it out. And I'll try to make extra time for you." I say and give a relieved smile.

"One more thing.." He says, looking devious.

"What?"

"Let me call the number."

Ansel's POV

"Let me call the number." I say. I'm glad our fight is solved and over, but I don't want someone messing with Lucy.

"No, it's not necessary." She refuses.

"Are you hiding something, Lucy?"

"No, you're just acting like a kid."

"There's nothing wrong with being a kid. Now, please hand me your phone." She sighs and tosses her phone to me.

I click on the unknown number and press call. It rings a few times and someone answers.

I can tell who it is just by them saying, "Hello?"

Are. You. Kidding. Me?!
