Lucy's POV

Ansel and I are in the car driving to the amusement park where we met. I couldn't really keep it a surprise, but Ansel still got excited when I told him.

The park is open for a Halloween special, and I decided to take advantage of that.

"You know, babe, my stomach feels sort of weird. I probably shouldn't ride any roller coasters." Ansel says, holding his stomach.

"Excuses, excuses. We're riding every ride in this park. It's the rules of the date."

We get our tickets and try to find a calm starter ride. We choose the ride with the swings. Ansel holds my hand, but he's not as tense as he is when he's on the roller coasters. My little scaredy cat.

We walk through the park, hand-in-hand. I look around and see little kids, their parents chasing after them. I see teens with their groups of friends thinking they're 'the shit'. I see other couples, the ones that used to make me so mad and jealous.

I look up next to me and see my world. My one-and-only. My best friend. My Ansel. When did I get so lucky?

For the first time in a long time, I realize I'm really happy. There's no longing to be loved or no aching in my heart from my missing piece. My heart is whole. I finally have my other half.

"What are you thinking about?" Ansel asks, studying my face. His eyes show me that no other girl in the world could tear his attention away from me.

"I'm thinking of how lucky I am to have you."

"No. I'm the lucky one."

"Whatever." I laugh.

We ride a few more small rides before I decide to step it up a bit.

"Okay, Ansel. Enough small rides. Lets go on a roller coaster."

"I haven't been on one since the day we met."

"Well, today's your lucky day."

I drag him to the ride I came here for: the roller coaster where we met.

"Boy, isn't this familiar?" He squeezes my hand.

We wait in line for a while. When it comes to our turn, I notice Ansel's face has become pale.

"It's okay, what's the worst thing that could happen?" I ask.

"You could fall out and I would lose you."

It makes me smile, knowing the worst thing he can think of is losing me.

"We'll be fine. Let's go."

After we're seated, they launch us to the start of the roller coaster.

As we're slowly climbing the hill, Ansel grabs my hand.

"Lucy, I love you." He looks at me, even though I know it's hard for him to keep his eyes open at this height. "Our whole relationship has been one hell of a ride. We've had our ups and downs like any normal couple, but we always come out stronger than before. I know we'll be together forever. I don't know how I know, but I do." I interrupt him by kissing him. When we pull back, he continues. "I would be lying if I didn't say this relationship has been the ride of my life."
