Ansel's POV

I was kind of bummed that Cory bailed on me last night. Because of that, I was lonely the whole night. Lucy couldn't text me, so I just decided to catch up on my sleep.

Which was a mistake.

This morning my body woke me up at 6 AM. And now, once again I'm bored and lonely.

I've been doing absolutely nothing except playing on my phone for the past four hours.

I hadn't been on Instagram in a while, so I tried to entertain myself with that. That was a mistake, too. I don't really care to see what people from high school are doing now. The only reason for that is because I already know what they waste their time doing.

All of them go out, get drunk and high and ruin their lives. It's ridiculous.

I haven't talked to Lucy today, but since its 10 AM, I figure she's up by now.

I decide to go to her house. I don't call her to ask if its okay, I just want to surprise her.

I walk up to the front door and knock. Daniel answers.

"Hey, is Lucy awake?"

"Yeah, but she's not home." He answers.

"Oh?"

"She's at the neighbors, babysitting. It's going to be a while before she comes home, but you can hang out here until then."

I don't know what time Cory wanted to move, but he'll let me know.

"How long exactly?" I ask.

"About 4 and a half hours." Oh wow. I should've just forced myself to sleep longer. "I would tell you to go over there but I don't know how the neighbors would feel about it. We don't know them that well. It's Lucy's first day babysitting, too." Daniel says.

"Yeah, I'll probably just come back after. See you later." And I leave. I'm confused as to why Lucy didn't tell me she was babysitting. She didn't really say the neighbors had kids either.

I pull out of the driveway and look to the neighbor's house. Then, I see a young man getting into a truck and backing out of their driveway.

Hmm. He doesn't look like he'd need a babysitter.

Lucy's POV

Today's my first day of babysitting. I got here at eight, like I was instructed.

It turns out, Josh doesn't have to go in to work until 11, so it was pointless for me to be here until then.

However, I stay. I wanted Lilly to have a little more time to warm up to me before she got abandoned with a complete stranger. She's comfortable around Josh, so maybe he can help her get used to me.

It's been about fifteen minutes since I got here, and Lilly isn't awake. Josh and I have been talking, just about general stuff. He really is a sweet guy.

He offers me coffee, and I accept. I guess I'm not as handy with concealer as I thought. You can probably notice the bags under my eyes from miles away.

More time passes and it's 9:45. I'm not going to lie, I'd rather be in bed asleep than here talking to Josh.

There's only one guy I'd rather talk to than sleep and I'm pretty sure we all know who that is.

Josh decides to go and wake Lilly up. Apparently she's a deep sleeper. All of the little kids I know are up at the crack of dawn.

We go to Lilly's room and see her peacefully asleep. I really hope she's not grumpy when she wakes up.

"Lil, it's time to wake up," Josh gently says.

"Daddy?" Lilly sits up and rubs her eyes.

"No, it's Josh. And Lucy. Remember Lucy from last night?" She nods, then jumps into her brothers arms, wanting him to carry her.

Once she is fully awake, we take her downstairs and make breakfast.

I make eggs and toast while Josh fries bacon.

It feels weird, hanging out with a different guy like this. I feel like I'm cheating on Ansel. I'll need to tell him, just so he doesn't jump to any conclusions.

"I should probably get to work. I want to get there early to make a good impression." Josh says, after we're all fed and full.

"Well, good luck!" I say.

"Thank you," he smiles, "Mine and my parents work schedules are crazy since we all just started, but you won't have to watch her for this long on normal days." He informs me.

"Oh. Okay."

"Bye Lilly! Be nice to Lucy!" He says to his sister. "See ya, Lucy."

And he leaves. I watch through the window as he drives away. I catch a glimpse of a familiar car. Was that.. Ansel?
