Lucy's POV

I haven't felt comfortable staying in my dorm the past few days. I know I'm going to have to at some point, but I want to get to know Kat more before I have to live with her 24/7.

Unfortunately, the school has a strict policy that no boys are allowed in girls' rooms overnight and vice versa; so Ansel can't sleep over. But, I can still sleep over at his place.

My mom pretty much pushed me out the door, making me move in to my dorm as soon as it was possible. So, I don't feel like I belong at my own home anymore, at least not without my dad and Daniel.

The only real place I feel comfortable and welcome is Ansel's. I guess the saying is true- "Home is where the heart is."

I really have thought about Ansel's offer of me moving in with him, but I just don't think it's realistic at this point. We've only really known each other for a few months.

I get to Ansel's after going to the store and I knock on the door. Ansel also offered to give me the spare key, but I don't want to be a nuisance.

Cory answers. "Hey, come in. Ansel is in the shower." He says.

I talk to Cory for a minute and then I go to Ansel's room. I sit down on the bed and look at my phone.

A few minutes later, I feel someone's presence in the room. I look up and see Ansel. His hair is wet and shaggy, he can make anything look adorable. He's wearing a towel around his waist.

"Hey, babe." He walks over, cups my face and kisses me. "So I had the best idea."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah. What if we go out to a party or something and invite Kat? That way you can get to know her better."

"Good idea, but who's having a party? And I'm sure Kat wouldn't want to be a third wheel."

"That's where the genius part comes in! We can set Kat up with Cory! Then Cory gets to know her and tells us if we should trust her or not. Personally, I think she's completely trustworthy, but your judgement of character is different than mine."

"Wow, Ansel. I'm proud. That's a pretty good idea." I say.

"I'm in. Where's the party?" Cory pokes his head in the door. I wonder if he eavesdrops on all of our conversations. I laugh.

Ansel explains that it's at a frat house a few miles away.

"So, the school year hasn't even started but there's already parties? Man, this is going to be a crazy experience." I say.

"Stick with us and the crazy will never end." Cory says.

Luckily, Kat agreed to go with us to the party. I'm relieved.

Cory, Ansel and I pull into the parking lot of my dorm building.

"You all can wait here. I'll go get her." I tell them.

I go inside and get into the elevator. Our dorm is only on the third floor, but I'm wearing wedges. So, if I took the stairs, I'd probably break my ankle.

I get to our room and knock. I have a key but it seems weird just barging in, although she knows we're coming.

She answers. "Hey, Lucy!"

"Hey! Are you ready?" I ask. It's almost 10 o'clock, but there's still people roaming the halls. I guess they're going to parties like us.

When we get back to the car, I introduce Kat to Cory. They talk a little on the way to the party.

We arrive at the frat house and there are cars parked in every possible place. We circle the block a few times and finally find a spot.

Is it bad to say I'm scared?
