Chapter 10: Through Her Window_Part 2

Mike's POV

I sat down on the edge of her bed. I looked up slyly and pat the spot next to me. El rolled her eyes and sat next to me, our hips touching.

I reached out and pinched her sides. Her laughter spilled out and filled my ears with music. She fell back farther onto her bed and caught her breathe. I chuckled and laid down next to her.

She intertwined her fingers with mine, "How long were you at the window?" She asked curiously.

I smiled and turned my neck to face her, "As soon as I got out of school I got ready. Then I got here at about 5:30. I didn't think Hopper was going to be here. So I waited for Hopper to leave the room. But I fell asleep and I woke up at 7:30.  Then I waited for you to get ready and get in your room then I came in."

El giggled, "You've been here for 2 hours?"

My eyes widened. El got quiet and raised her eyebrows, "I got a dictionary and I've been learning math."

I squeezed her hand in congratulations on her new knowledge. She sat up and pointed to the stack of books on the floor. I moved to the edge of the bed and sat with my legs criss-crossed.

El glanced at our hands then looked up at me through her curls, "Why did you want Dad to be at work?"

I blushed nervously, "Well, I wanted to be...alone...alone with you."

"I want to be alone with you too."

We stared intently at each other for what felt like hours. My eyes drifted to her lips. I remember the first time I touched them. And the second. And the third. Vividly. I thought about it all the time actually.

El breathed out and leaned towards me. I moved closer to her and cupped her face with my hands. She closed her eyes and our lips met. For a moment we stayed there. My stomach burned uncontrollably. We drew apart slowly.

Her face was bright red. Mine was too. But she didn't try to hide it. She stared at me, eyes sparkling. I bit my lip and touched her mouth again lightly. The kiss was shorter but meant just as much. She breathed out and smiled. She closed her eyes and put her forehead against mine.

"I missed you Mike."

"And I missed you El."

I leaned back and laid down again. She followed me and cuddled up against my chest.

My heart beat faster. We were here. She was here. I kissed her. She kissed me back. My head was spinning with everything that happened.

Eleven was breathing deeply. She was asleep. I put my hand on her head and ran my fingers through her hair.

She moved closer, subconsciously climbing on top of me.

She mumbled something so quietly that I barely caught what she said.

"I love you Mikey."
