This chapter is a tad spicy :)
Max's POV
I blinked slowly, my eyes trying to adjust to the lighting in the familiar room. Looking down, I realized I was lying in Lucas's room, on his bed, and my face went red. There was a stabbing pain in the back of my head and I was about to touch it but a deep brown hand moved it away.
"Don't touch it." A soft voice escaped from Lucas's soft lips, his calm expression helping to take away some of the nerves that I had growing in my stomach.
"What...what happened?"
He glanced back at me, his eyes piercing and regretful, "Do you remember hitting your head on the bottom of the pool?"
I nodded slowly, the memory relatively clear in my mind. El had used her powers to pummel me into the water.
"Well, Eleven kind of...um...you were trying to be friendly to El and she kind of rejected you..." He trailed off almost like he felt guilty about it.
"I remember."
"Then you left and I followed you. I'm sorry I...I couldn't get there fast enough. You just collapsed-"
Grabbing his hand, I looked into his chocolate eyes with a small smile, "Lucas, you couldn't have known I was gonna pass out." I chuckled slightly at the last bit, attempting to make him grin.
Lucas seemed to wince a bit, but he squeezed my fingers in his to reassure me.
A thought crossed my mind for a moment, making me nervous. "Does...does Mike know?" I was hesitant to ask because of how scared I was of the answer.
He looked at me with a soft expression, moving closer and letting me grasp his hands even harder, "He knows some of what happened. It seemed like he didn't quite want to accept that El hurt you though. I think he might've talked to her about it. I overheard them arguing-"
I cut him off quickly. "He shouldn't have yelled at her. I mean I can understand why she would be jealous. I do spend a lot of time with him and even you, the most level headed person in the party, thought it was something that it wasn't. I really need to talk to her about this-"
"Woah, woah slow down. You need to rest before you do anything else. I think you might have a concussion to be honest." Lucas re-positioned himself next to me so he could examine my head injury more closely.
"Luc. Lucas. LUCAS. Chill." I pushed him back a little so he would be in front of me. He stared at me with a goofy look on his face. In what seemed like a split second, he leaned in and pecked me on the mouth.
I let out a small giggle and smirked at him flirtatiously. Lucas always seemed to make me show the girly side of myself and for some reason I didn't feel weird being that with him.
"Was that all you got?" I managed to breathe out before I shifted my body close to him. He put his arms around my waist like it was second nature and we kissed again. Longer. Deeper.
Lucas moved his lips against mine, our touch getting more passionate. I could feel my ears going red and my freckled cheeks were definitely rosy.
We parted after those few blissful moments, our breath caught in our throats and our lips a bit puffy from the contact.
"Woah." I whispered to myself, keeping eye contact with the boy I was falling hard for.
Lucas looked at me with an intense expression, "Totally tubular." His face cracked and he started snickering like a five year old.
Smacking him in the abdomen, I scoffed jokingly at his reaction.
"Okay okay. You actually need to rest now," he stood and pushed my shoulders back onto the pillow as I pulled the covers up over my chilly legs, "I'll come and check on you in a bit, okay?"
I nodded lovingly at the dark skinned boy, "Bye."
Making his way to the door of his room, he winked at me, which made my heart flutter again.
"BYE." I laughed at him.
Mike's POV
I biked quickly to the junkyard, hoping that Will was there already. I really needed him to help me out. He always seemed to know just what to do.
"Mike." I heard Will call towards me, his expression visible even from this far away. He was concerned.
"Hey Will." I let my bike fall next to where his was laying on the ground.
"What's up?"
"Will, man, I fucked up."
"El?"
I lowered my head a bit, letting him know exactly what I was thinking without having to say it.
"What happened?" He asked softly.
"Lucas told me what happened to Max and I almost wish I didn't know."
The smaller boy frowned up at me, his eyebrows positioned in a way that let me know he wanted me to elaborate.
"Apparently El used her powers on Max when we were playing chicken and she got hurt. Maybe a concussion. Then Max like passed out or something because of it, I dunno." Running my fingers through my still damp hair, I sighed with frustration.
"Mike, I don't think you noticed but Max was trying really hard to make El like her. She tried to talk to El when you were with Lauren and me."
"What happened?"
Will shrugged at me. "I think Max was trying to be nice or something and El..."
I rolled my eyes. "El was what?"
"She kind of rejected her. And then Max was running and the rest you know."
I sighed loudly, feeling completely responsible for what was going on. "I totally screwed all of this up. El told me that she was jealous and that she was sorry but I flipped on her." I put my hands on the bridge of my nose to try and sooth the pain that was flaring there.
"It's not all your fault, Mike. I think you should go talk to both of them and make sure everyone's okay. This feud between El and Max has been going on for way too long."
"I know I know. El probably is never gonna talk to me again. And Max is most likely pissed. So I don't know how I'm ever gonna sort this out."
Now it was Will's turn to roll his eyes. "Drama queen." He snorted at me as he watched me stress out.
I elbowed him lightly as I chuckled. "Shut up."
"But seriously Mike. You should talk to both of them. We're all friends and there's no reason that a little fight is gonna break up the party."
