El's POV

"Will," I hugged him tightly, breathing in the scent of his laundered shirt.

"El! It's so good to see you!" He hugged me back, laughing into my shoulder.

Lauren was smiling as I let go of him.

"What are you doing here El?" Will said breathlessly.

"Hopper wanted me to get out of the cabin for a while. So he told me that the party was going to eat at a diner. So I showed up."

Will looked impressed, "Your speech is getting really good El."

"Thanks will," I grinned at him.

"Anyway. I didn't see you at the diner!"

"I didn't go in."

"Why?"

"Mike was...he...he was..." I trailed off, starting to sob.

Will pulled me into a hug, "Shhhhh, sweetie it's okay," he gently rubbed my back.

I continued to cry into Will's shirt, "Mike. Max."

Will frowned, "What about Max and Mike?"

"They...he likes her."

"El, I don't think they like each other like Mike likes you."

"But he and her were smiling and laughing."

Lauren squeezed my shoulder, "It's gonna be okay."

Will's POV

Lauren looked at her kindly, "I don't think he likes her El."

"I don't know. We haven't seen each other for a while. Maybe...maybe things have changed."

I couldn't watch her hurt anymore, "I'll talk to Mike."

She shook her head, "No Will. I don't want him to know."

I nodded. If she didn't want him to know, he wouldn't.

I glanced over at Lauren, "Can you give us a minute?"

She nodded and I pulled Eleven away.

"Did you tell Lauren about you? And about what actually happened?"

She shook her head, "No. But I think we can trust her."

"Me too."

She pulled me into another hug, "Lauren and I have to go. See you later."

I smiled, "Bye El."

"Bye Zombie Boy," Lauren giggled.

"Bye Lauren," I blushed.

They walked away as I turned. I strolled down the road and joined the party. Max and Mike were on the ground laughing. Maybe they were more than friends. I shook my head. No, Mike was just telling me about how he felt about El.

Mike got up and nudged me, "What were you and Lauren talking about for so long?"

I could barely look at him. But I had to lie. For El, "I was just catching up and I talked to her friend too."
