Nancy's POV

I looked over my shoulder at the door. What was that noise?

I quickly went outside my room, greeted by my dad carrying Mike down the stairs.

"Oh my god! Mike!" I followed him down the steps and hurried to the kitchen where my mom gathered her purse and car keys.

"Mom, what's going on? What's wrong with Mike?" I said through gasps.

"Nancy, Michael is very sick. And his fever isn't going down," she said trying to stay strong.

"I'm coming to the hospital then."

"Nancy!" My dad called from the living room.

I ran to my dad, "What do you need me do to?"

"Get Michael in the car while I help your mother calm down, she's very concerned."

I nodded. Hoisting Mike over my shoulder, I hobbled to my parents car. He stirred as I buckled him in.

"Nan..." he trailed off, looking confused.

I put my hand on his hot, pale cheek, "It's gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay. I won't let anything happen to you. You're gonna be fine Mikey," I heard the door close and I wiped my tear streaked face. My mom wouldn't be able to handle me crying. I had to be strong for her.

"Nancy, drive your car in case you need to go home."

I nodded, sliding into my small car.

I followed them to the hospital, rain starting to pour down.

"Oh god. Please let him be okay. Please let him be okay. I can't live without him. I-I love him," my voice cracked and my tears started rushing down my blotchy face. I let out a few wails. I was alone.

A car came out of nowhere. I gasped, swerving to miss hitting it.

"Oh my god," I breathed, the tears halting for a moment.

I pulled into the hospital, wiping my face to hide any sign of crying. I failed.

My mom grabbed my hand as we walked into the hospital, Mike still asleep in my dad's arms.

As we walked into the emergency room, nurses swarmed us and took Mike onto a hospital bed.

My mom squeezed my hand, "It's going to be okay," she looked down at me with a reassuring look.

"I hope."

El's POV

I opened my door, glancing around the house. I skipped towards the front windows. No truck. Hopper wasn't supposed to be home until late. I could go see Mike until then.

I opened the front door, shivering in the chill of the morning. I ran back to my room and grabbed the sweatshirt that I had taken off earlier. Much warmer.

I descended the stairs and walked swiftly through the woods. Hugging the clothes closer to me, I ran.

I stopped, closing my eyes. The darkness came.

Mike. Hospital.

I opened my eyes and sprinted to the left. I needed to get there fast. What was wrong with him?

Will's POV

I looked at my watch. It's almost lunch. Where is Mike?

I pulled out my notebook and started writing.

"I'm worried about Mike."

I passed it quickly to Lucas, who received it and also started jotting words down.

"Me too. He's never late and he's barely absent. I think something's wrong."

I glanced at Lucas who stared back at me. He shrugged and I looked back at my watch.

The bell rang, Lucas and I both sprang from our seats and jogged to the hallway.

"Lucas."

"I know Will. Something isn't right."

Dustin ran up to us, "Woah guys. What's going on?"

I looked over at him, "It's Mike. Something is wrong."

"Well it's lunch right now. So we can worry about that when we're done eating," Dustin said with hungry eyes.

Lucas rolled his eyes, "Our best friend is missing! And all you can think about is food!" (This is kind of a Harry Potter quote if you didn't catch it. To all the Potterheads out there...you're welcome.)

"Guys, HE IS FINE! Why doesn't anyone understand that? He's probably skipping or he went to see Eleven. Or he's sick. He's not dying," Max spoke up, obviously agitated.

"Yea he's probably fine," Dustin spoke up.

Lucas shook his head, "I can't believe you. No one is worried except Will and I!"

Max looked distressed, "Lucas-"

He cut her off, "Come on Will. Let's go find Mike," he turned his back on Max and walked right out of the school. She looked like she was about to cry.

She turned, "Let's go Dustin."

"Bye guys. We'll tell you what happens tomorrow," I also turned and followed Lucas out to our bikes.

Lucas was already mounted as I neared the bike rack.

"Let's go. I have a bad feeling."

We biked down the road, heading towards town. We had to start somewhere.

We jumped off of our bikes and ran into the arcade, checking the bathrooms and behind every game.

"No Mike."

I shrugged, "Let's go to his house."

Lucas's POV

We walked up to Mike's house. There were no cars and no lights could be seen inside.

"We could knock?" Will suggested.

"We might as well. It can't hurt."

Will strolled the to front door which was very unusual since we always entered through the basement.

Knock knock knock

No answer.

Knock knock knock

"I don't think anyone's home," Will said.

"Where else could he be? The Field? El's?"

"Let's go check the Field first, then Eleven's," Will said matter-of-factly.

As we rolled our bikes out of Mike's paved driveway, we heard a voice. A girl's voice.

"Will, wait. That sounds a lot like-OOF!"

"Lucas."
