El's POV

I ran out of the trees towards town. I turned down different streets, confusing myself.

"Too many roads," I muttered under my breath.

I turned another corner and came across a neighborhood. Mike's neighborhood.

His little house sat nestled in between two other houses. My heart swelled as I neared it slowly.

I stopped as I heard talking from the front door. Moving towards the noise, I recognized who's voice it was.

Lucas and the small boy...Will. My smile widened and I sprinted towards the dark skinned boy.

"OOF!"

I ran into him and hugged him tightly, "Lucas."

He moved me away from him body, his arms extended, inspecting me. It looked like something clicked within him, "Eleven? EL!" He started laughing and he hugged me close. Oh how I missed him.

After hugging and laughing for a few minutes I turned to Will shyly.

He smiled gently, "I'm Will. You're El, right?"

I nodded.

His grin grew wider, "You saved me. You saved my life. Thank you so much. You will never know how much you already mean to me."

I was surprised by his bold words, yet I couldn't stop smiling. Mike had explained to me how Will was his closest friend and that he always listened when he was sad...about me. He said Will was like his brother. So Will would be like a brother to me too. Just like the other boys were.

"Friends," I moved closer to him and hugged around his shoulders. The fragile boy returned the hug and patted my arm.

Lucas turned to me, "El, what are you doing here?"

"Mike. Something is wrong. I saw. In the dark," I explained, Lucas nodding after every short phrase. Will looked confused.

Lucas turned to him, "Since she has mind superpowers, she can go into this dark dream thing where she can find people and communicate. Just like she did with you," Will nodded in comprehension.

"So you saw Mike in your mind and he was in trouble?"

I nodded, "He was in bed and people kept coming in and out of the room. Then it was hard to see. I don't know how to say it,"

Lucas cut in, "You mean it was blurry, like the picture was all fuzzy. Like rain on a window?"

I nodded vigorously, "Yes. I heard voices. Worried. I think he is hurt. I heard hospital."

The boys looked at each other. I knew it wasn't good.

"Oh god this is bad," Lucas exclaimed.

"We should get to the hospital then," Will and Lucas put their bikes near the basement of Mike's house.

Lucas started to walk, taking long strides. Will followed behind him.

I looked back at the house that I had called my home for that week. The week that everything changed. I sighed in numb remembrance. That week had hurt Mike. I wouldn't let it happen again.

"Eleven, we have to go fast!" Lucas called from down the street.

I turned as Will ran back to where I stood. He smiled and took my hand, leading me down the road, "Let's go find Mike. I think he'll need you right now."

Nancy's POV

I walked slowly towards the edge of his bed, I stroked his matted hair gently. My little brother stirred and his big brown eyes fluttered open, "Hey Mike. How're you feeling?"

"Okay. Why am I here? I can't remember much."

"You have pneumonia. I think it's because you were out so long in the rain."

Mike nodded. All of a sudden he frowned then sat up a little, his eyes held panic, "Nancy! You can't be in here! You're gonna catch it!"

I laughed, "No Mike. Your pneumonia isn't very contagious anymore. Plus I have a strong immune system. I'll be fine."

His eyes calmed down significantly, "Oh okay. Good," he looked thoughtful for a moment, "Do my friends know yet?"

I shook my head. "No. But mom is going to call all of their moms to tell the boys. And Max."

He rolled his eyes at the sound of the red head's name, "Why do you need to call Max? I bet that she would want the illness to take me."

"Mike!"

"What? It's true! She hates me and I definitely don't like her."

The sarcasm faded in his eyes, "Are you going to call Hop?"

El. Of course he would want to know this, "No we weren't going to but we can if you want," I stood, going to tell mom to add the Chief to the list.

Mike grabbed my hand, "No. I don't want her to know. She doesn't need to worry," his voice got faint and his eyes burned with genuineness, "Nancy."

I looked at him with a concerned gaze, "Yes?"

He swallowed loudly, "I-I think I love her," his face turned a deep pink as he clutched my hand tighter.

I smiled, "I think you do too."

He looked surprised, "But I don't know. I have never felt this way about someone before. It's probably not love. I don't know-"

"Mike. Stop. If you feel this way, there's no need to cover it up. You don't have to be nervous or unsure about it. I see the way you look at her. You got pneumonia because you couldn't bring yourself to leave her. I don't know a lot about love, but I know what it looks like. And the way you look at Eleven is definitely with love," I finished my sororal rant.

He looked like he was about to cry, "Thanks."

I put my hand on his arm, "That's why I'm here. Now get some sleep!" I strolled out of the room, a smile still plastered on my face.

Mike's POV

I jolted awake to a strange sound. I quickly glanced at the clock on the white hospital wall.

[12:14 PM]

It had only been about 10 minutes since Nance left. I closed my eyes again.

Tap tap tap

What the hell is that sound?

I sat up and glanced around the room, seeing that there was a window near my bed.

The sound was coming from. I grinned widely as I saw two faces peeking through the glass.

"Mike!"

A third face appeared. My breath caught in my chest.

Her eyes were sparkling. And she was wearing my sweatshirt.
