Chapter Three - The Castle of Demontive
I lead Flames into the forest; less people know I'm here the better. The forest was a tangled mess of trees and shrubs with little space for Flames to trot. With the sun just rising I might be able to sneak into the castle and kill the target before noon. Wouldn't that be nice for once in my life kill a target without getting caught, something new.
As we kept on I knew Flames wouldn't be able to come any closer, she is too large of a horse. I stopped her and got off.
"Now Flames stay here girl I'll call for you." I told her as I rubber her main. She knew what to do; she would come right as I whistled to carry me away back home. I gave her one more quick rub then went off into the forest. It wasn't a large nor dense forest but a forest is a forest. I ran quickly threw it keeping a rather straight direction as I ran, jumping over the small bushes and plants that got in my way going towards the end, which should bring me right up to the north side of the castle. The woods seemed very quiet and empty quiet off I must say, though I kept on running hoping to get there faster. Finally though after a while of running I made it to castle.
The castle was large to say the least; it was a golden color bringing to mind gold. Wealthy royal family they must be. There was a large wall holding the castle in. Not to say it wouldn't be hard but it wouldn't be that easy. Oh great just to make my job harder. There were 4 large towers indicating the 4 directions. Then many windows filling in the rest of the castle. It was a grand castle, another thing that won't make this job easier.
I took a step back actualizing the wall; maybe I should go on the other side and used my hook to get up there. That sounds like the best idea. So I was off again running still through the woods towards the other side of the castle where the lake was. Well that will make an easy way to get out. The castle all the way around was very dull; it left a large space before the forest. I thought it was weird, it left them party UN protected. Finally after much running I got to the other side out of breath, great.
I took my hook and the rope that was attached to it out of my knapsack now it was time. Then I put on my mask, time to become the Black Death. I opened my eyes to the castle as the mask laid on me. I grabbed my hook running out into the space where I might be seen; I had to take the risk. This is my job that was the risk I was willing to take. I ran out into the space then I threw it up there with all my might making the hook hurl through the air towards the top of the wall. It landed perfectly amazingly. I grabbed onto the rope as I got close to the wall. I had to do one thing before I could climb up. I slide on the spikes on my shoes. I had made spikes for my shoes so I could climb up walls, they slide into the bottom.
After I had slide them on I began to climb the wall. I had climbed many walls before it was not different from any job. Every step I took to get up was faster than the one before. I finally got close to the top of the wall. A hell of a fall to the bottom. I hung on the rope as I grabbed my sword. I jumped up onto the ledge, and no one was there. I looked around waiting for a guard to come out of a door and come running at me sword at hand. Though there was no guards just silence. This was odd, well Sir Tybalt said there was parties going on maybe the guards have other jobs. Well a least this makes it easier.
I walked into the castle through a large door, it was quiet. Very quiet. I went through the empty halls quietly looking for right where I estimated was the staircase to the South tower. I ran through the halls till a large opening came into view. I walked into it and there was a large spiral staircase. I quickly walked in my sword still at hand, I didn't know how important this person was. The staircase was quiet short oddly. I walked up on the landing and there was a stone door there. I slowly walked up to it still ready to kill. I got to the door and I was about to open the door knob was suddenly it began to twist itself. Oh no. I jumped to the side as the door opened almost crushing me against the stone wall. A small little chamber maid walked out of the room lightly pushing the door closed. As she turned around I slide into the room before the door could close.
The room was grand much grander than that prince's room. It was a full of many items, which included a large bed, many chairs, a large dressers, a huge fireplace, and many valuable paintings. I stopped at the door to see a hooded person sitting praying at the other end of the room. I couldn't hear anything from the hooded person, the room was just silence. I still had my sword in hand, I would make this simple. A slice to the throat, a dagger to the heart something simple. I slowly and careful walked towards the person.
I could feel the air begin to get tense. I held my sword with full control ready to kill. Suddenly the hooded figure jumped up knocking the hood off of them. They held a sword, their brown eyes looking at me. Oh no, not what I was expecting.
