Chapter Eighteen Practice and Trolls

“You know Archer, once this mess is all done. You should probably stop the Assassin business.” Alexander said as he took his bow out aiming at a large thick oak that laid 100 yards ahead of us. “I am.” I muttered as I sat on a rock as the sky became darker and darker. Only a little light was left to light out way. “Really? I didn’t think you were really going to agree with me.” Alexander said, surprised as he let go of his arrow, sending it flying in the air hitting his target perfectly.

“Alexander, I’m getting to old to be as I am. I am getting to sick of it. It’s hard to stay on this mission. I just want to leave. That’s my plan. Right when this is over. I’m going to pack up my blacksmith job and head to the country side. Somewhere, where I can have peace. Just Flames and I.” I smiled as I described it. Alexander held the arrow as he walked back over. “Just Flames and You.” Alexander muttered as he handed me his bow and the arrow. “Yes, Just Flames and I. You and Emeline could settle down too.” I laughed as I stood up.

“You know Archer, this has been good for you. Good for all of us.” Alexander said as I held the bow aiming at a small little tree. “It has, it really has.” I spoke as I released the arrow, sending it flying through the air. I watched as it hit the tree perfectly. I handed Alexander his bow as I walked towards the tree that was maybe 200 yards ahead. “One day they will write stories about you Archer. They will write about this journey, and all of the lucky souls that got to join you. Each time their tale might change but the same idea will remain. Archer you have done something Kings, noblemen, the poor, and Knights dream about, you have become a hero.” Alexander said. His voice full of truth, power, emotion as I grabbed the arrow.

“A hero?” I scoffed as I looked at him. He laughed at me as I began to walk towards him. I was almost in front of him when I saw a dark shadow raise above his head. “ALEXANDER!” I yelled as I hurdled the arrow at the figure. It hit it in the head perfectly making it fall to the ground. “Trolls.” He yelled as he threw me my sword. We stood back to back waiting for the attack. 5 came out of the shadows around us. “Stay Strong.” Alexander started. “Die young, Live tonight.” I ended as I lunched. That was something we had made up a long time ago. It was a saying Alexander used to say when I trained. ‘Stay Strong, Die Young, Live Tonight’.

I hit the first troll hitting his heart as he let out a pain filled shriek. Alexander had his hands full using his amazing strength and precision as he climbed a tree, shooting at the trolls. 5 more emerged from the shadows. I used the landscape to help me, and so it did. There were many boulders, trees, and pot holes scatted across the land. I could get a few to fall and trip hitting their head on the boulder. I got another by beheading him. 5 more emerged from the shadows.

“Archer! I’m running out of arrows!” Alexander yelled as two of the trolls began to climb the tree. I ran and grabbed two of his arrows throwing them up to him. He caught them and hit the trolls. But he was all out again. He climbed down grabbing his sword and joining me. Though what was the use. We were surrounded and their numbers kept going up. “Don’t Give Up!” I yelled to Alexander as we both were able to kill another together. I was on the urge of giving up. What the Hell had I gotten myself into?

“DUCK!” Someone yelled. It wasn’t a troll voice, because trolls don’t speak English. I grabbed Alexander by the shoulder shoving him to the ground. Suddenly something was thrown in the air causing a loud crash and a bright light. I covered my eyes as many thuds filled the air. “Archer open your eyes.” Alexander whispered. I opened my eyes to see Alexander sitting up looking at a thin figure emerge from the shadow. I jumped to my feet holding my sword tight.

“Be calm Archer.” The figure cooed as I looked around. All the trolls were on the ground, dead. My eyes shot back to the figure. “Who are you? And how do you know my name?” I yelled. Suddenly a face and body began to emerge. It was a young women, younger than Isabelle. She had dark brown hair and even dark eyes. She looked around 18. “Princess Edith?” Alexander asked as he put his sword back in it’s case. Princess Edith, the same princess Edith of Leon? “Yes.” She said as she stood in front of us. A horse trotted to her side. “I need your help.” She said as he got on her knees in front of me. “Help me save my parents Knight Archer.” She begged as she put her hand in a praying position. I looked at her.

“Don’t beg, your lucky I’m already on a mission for a Princess to help Leon and kill Sir Tybalt.” I said as I took her hand and brought her up from her praying position. ‘Come we must leave now. He knows that we are here.” I muttered as Princess Edith got on her horse and Archer and I ran. We headed straight towards the Inn. We must hurry.
