The Assassin's Story Epilogue

Ideals are like stars; you will not succeed in touching them with your hands. But like the seafaring man on the desert of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following them you will reach your destiny. ~Carl Schurz

I stood in front of the mirror looking at myself. I was alive, well, and a hero. Alexander stood next to me, buttoning up the few gold buttons on his red vest. I was already ready. I stared at my arm in the mirror, it was healing slowly. Emeline had made me a sling, it was made my silk. Alexander smiled at himself as he finished. I glanced over at him, his hair was cut and clean, his body was scrubbed from all the dirt, his mood was happy too. I looked back at myself. Trimmed hair, clean, and nicely dressed. Isabelle had made me. She had gotten me royal blue and gold to wear, even though I hated it. "Archer, it's time." Alexander said as he walked up next to me. I looked over at him and smiled.

"I'm glad you're alive." Alexander said as he patted me on the shoulder, right on the side it hurt. I grimaced as he laughed. We both walked out of the room into the hallway. A small old man stood at the door. He nodded his head at us then he opened it. I was blinded for a second as the light filled the room. Today I would be made a knight, along with Alexander. I took a deep breath as I walked through the door, the room was filled. Packed with people, all here to see us? A bunch of peasants. Though we did save the whole kingdom, that's probably why.

I walked steady and straight, making my way towards the throne. Beautiful music filled the room as I walked, Alexander right behind me. I looked straight ahead, I wanted to look professional. I also wanted to see Isabelle. Right when I saw her I smiled. She was wearing the same dress that I had bought her, only the royal tailor did a few touch ups. He changed the front of the dress entirely, now it was laced up. Also Isabelle had her long curly brown hair let loose, the clean curls were loose around her. But most of all was she glowed. At her side was Princess Edith, Queen Maria, and King Bartholomew.

I arrived faster than I thought, before I knew it I stood in front of the throne. Isabelle gestured with her eyes for me to kneel down. So I did, and Alexander joined. King Bartholomew handed Isabelle the sword that laid on a lush red pillow, it was my sword that I had carried. I had given it to the king. Isabelle took the sword from him then she walked down a few steps till she was right in front of us. She went to me first.

"Archer of Saint Clair, I pronounce you Knight of Saint Clair for all your fearlessness, strength, power, and swordsmanship as of defeating the tyrant." Isabelle spoke this loudly as she took the dull side of the sword and placed it on both of my shoulders. She than began to talk in Latin, about Christ and God. I couldn't quiet follow, so I just stayed where I was and kept quiet. She went on and did the same thing to Alexander. I was now a Knight.

I stood on the outside of the dancing group, watching everyone. They moved so gracefully, it was beautiful. Though I was kept busy by the congratulations I got. I didn't really talk to anyone, which was fine by me. I let out a sigh as I moved myself towards the back of the room.  I stood next to a table, where my wine glass sat. I took a quick sip as I looked out upon the crowd. I watched as Emeline and Alexander emerged from it, coming towards me slowly.

They came towards me. I bowed to Emeline first. She curtsied. "Emeline." I smiled as she smiled back. "Archer." She laughed. Then Alexander. I bowed to him too, he bowed back. "So Archer what shall you be doing after this splendid celebration?" Emeline asked Alexander took her hand. With her other hand, Emeline brushed her loose strands of hair from her face. I smiled at them.

"Well I am thinking of moving to the countryside with Flames, reopening myself." I explained as I took my glass, taking another breath. Emeline looked up at Archer, her eyes not fully open yet not fully closed. She looked a little disappointed. No one talked, it was just silence among us. The only sound that filled the room was the music as it came to an end. We all clapped. "So what will you both be doing?" I asked as we all stopped clapping and the music began again. Emeline let out a little giggle as she looked at Alexander. Alexander shook his head at his wife.

"You see Isabelle, well she offered us to stay here in the castle with her. She said I could work as a knight, and Emeline would be one of her fair ladies. You know Archer, it would be nice if you stayed for a while." Alexander said as he brushed off some dirt from his clothes. I sighed at them. "I will be leaving as soon as this is over, I think this man, well knight needs some rest." I spoke calmly as I took another sip of wine. Emeline looked clearly annoyed with me. She just kept looking at me, straight in eyes. Waiting for something.

I needed to turn away from her stare so I looked out upon the crowd. There I spot a beautiful women make her way over to us. I smiled at her as she approached us. Isabelle. As she came up to us I bowed and she curtsied. It felt odd to do this, nearly days ago we fought we talked we acted as if we were distant friends with no substance quality in this world. "Emeline, Alexander, Archer." She said. We all muttered her name. She was now to become Queen, probably marry some far off king. Some man she barely knew, some man that barely knew her.

"Umm Archer may I speak to you in private?" Isabelle asked, at that instant Alexander and Emeline both walked back into the dance. Leaving Isabelle and I alone. "Of course." I stated plainly. Isabelle nodded as she turned around. I followed her. We went out a pair of glass doors onto the balcony. It was beautiful. You could still hear quiet a lot of the music yet the view! Amazing! It stood over looking everything, you could see the gentle hills, the forest of far ahead, the rivers that snaked their way along the country, the beauty, and the sun. It looked like gold as it began to set into the hills.

"Archer, I fear I ask of something almost impossible of you. Something that it of no responsibility of myself, it's foolish I must admit."Isabelle rambled on. I sighed as I took my hand and placed it over her mouth silencing her. "My dear Isabelle, I'm not getting any younger." I joked as she smiled form beneath my finger. I removed my finger as I looked down at her, our bodies were mere inches apart. "Archer, I wish that you would stay with us. Please." Isabelle said this, her voice sounded more like a beg though. I looked down at her shocked at what she had just said. "Yes, I will stay." I smiled as I looked down at her.

My decision was very irrational, and maybe too quickly made. Though it felt like the best. "Oh Archer." Isabelle began but I stopped her. "My dear would you like to dance?" I asked as a new song began. Her face turned red as she looked down, I just kept on smiling. She nodded her head silently. I smiled. Luckily my sling was on the one side where my hand was positioned at the women's waist. Lucky, right. Isabelle put her hand on my shoulder, as I put mine on her's. We slowly and carefully danced around as the lovely melody went on.

"Archer." Isabelle whispered. "Isabelle." I whispered back .Her eyes looked up at me, their beauty was so stunning. I had never truly noticed how beautiful she was, so graceful, so elegant. She slightly leaned in towards me, as I to her. My rational thoughts were gone, I was new. I was very new. Isabelle's lips pressed softly against mine. Their sweet taste were as exactly as I thought they would be. We both pulled away from each other. Though Isabelle did not run away, she stayed with me. She moved closer to me, resting her head on my chest, as I rested mine on her head.

"I love you." She muttered softly. I smiled. "I love you too." I replied. The song came to an end inside, clapping was now heard. Yet we still kept dancing. We kept dancing even when the sun left, and the moon graced out presence. "I will always love you." Isabelle whispered. "And I shall always love you." I replied.

And we lived happily ever after.

The End.

This will always be my favorite part, because I was listening to Kings and Queens when this idea came into my mind. Thank you all again. Thank you My family, Wattpad, The WattyAwards, Friends, & everyone who has ever read this. Live Long and Prosper.
