Chapter seventeen Mark & the Inn
"Archer?" Alexander yelled. I could hear Isabelle moan from the pain, I remember the first time I got bit by a snake, hurt like hell. "Don't worry almost there." I muttered to Isabelle as I drove Flames, she moved a bit quicker towards them. "Alexander, Emeline did you find a town?" I yelled as I came into their range. "Yes we did." Emeline said as she got off the back of the horse. "She got bite by a snake, small little thing. She should be fine, just needs some stuff." I said Emeline went to Isabelle.
"Yah the ride isn't that far, let's go." Alexander said. Emeline let go of Isabelle's hand then she got back on behind Alexander. We rode over the forested hills, right behind Alexander and Emeline towards the town.
-------
"I know this town." I muttered as we rode into town. "Archer put your hood up, there is a bounty on your head, you too Isabelle." Emeline whispered to us as. I put my hood up as Isabelle put her's on. It was a ghost town, dark empty streets. Peering eyes from the pubs on each side. We weren't welcome, we were strangers. "We found a friend." Alexander said as he smiled. We headed towards an Inn that laid in the direct center of town.
"A friend?" I asked. Emeline nodded. Alexander rode ahead and they lead us around the back of the Inn. There stood the one and only..."Mark!" I said, maybe too excitedly. Mark stood there smiling. His black hair covering his face with his brown eyes dark and exciting as usual. Mark an old friend. A good old friend. I got off of Flames then I helped Isabelle off. Alexander and Emeline slipped inside leaving Mark, Isabelle, and I.
"Archer, Archer, Archer. And my dear my princess." Mark said as he Isabelle stood next to me, looking at Mark. He bowed to her then he led us inside. 'Come in, outlaws.' Mark joked as he locked the door. We all sat in a little room, what I was guessing was Mark's office. "So own a Inn.' I said as Isabelle sat down at a chair with Emeline. Alexander, Mark and I stood up. "And your outlaw." Mark said. "Nothing new I have to say." I shrugged. "Could we have a place for the night Mark." Alexander said as he took off his cape. He walked next to the fire feeling the warmth.
"Of course. Only two rooms though, and they are broken beaten rooms. I'm sorry. Oh and no lights at all after night fall." Mark said as he threw Alexander and I both a paper. I looked at it and on it was a drawing of Isabelle, Alexander, Emeline, and I. Outlaws. Wonderful. "Now off you go up the stairs before my regular pub guest come." Mark said as he smiled at us. We all walked out of the room and up the stairs. I again was stuck with Isabelle. Now I would have to help her with her bite till nightfall, which was a good few hours. "Goodnight." Alexander and Emeline said to us as they slipped into their room. "You go into the room I will be in there in a second." I said as I smiled. Isabelle nodded as she walked off. I turned around and headed towards the stairs. I let out a long whistle and instantly I could hear running up the stairs. Mark let out a breath as he stood in front of me. "Mark, I need something." I said as I leaned against the wall. "What Archer?" Mark asked as he smiled at me. "Two tailors for Emeline and Isabelle." I said as I grabbed a small sack that hung to my belt. It held a red ruby, the same red ruby that Sir Tybalt had given me.
I tossed it to Mark. He opened it and smiled. 'Yes right away." Mark said as he ran down stairs. I just laughed to myself. I stopped by at Alexander and Emeline's door. I knocked and Emeline instantly answered the door. "I knew you would knock. And a tailor, impressive." She said it all fast and suddenly she closed the door. I shrugged and went off to my room. I opened the door and Isabelle was sitting on her bed looking at her bite. It wasn't bleeding thankfully. I walked over to her and sat next to her on the bed. She looked up at me for a second and smiled then she looked back at her wound.
"Here let me fix this." I whispered to her as I took her small little hand. With my other hand I opened a draw to a dresser and there was a large blanket. I ripped a nice chunk out then I tied it around Isabelle's hand. "All nice and new." I smiled as I let go of her hand. "I'm scared." She uttered as she looked at her hand. I looked at her, she was she really was. I took my hand and cupped her chin forcing her to look up at me. "It will be fine, some way somehow." I smiled. She smiled a bit then what came next surprise me. She hugged me. She was soft and gentle and warm.
-----------'Knock Knock Knock'----------
Isabelle let go of me and walked to the door. She opened it a little scared at first. "Tailor." Came a little voice. A small little women scurried into the room. Isabelle looked up at me and smiled. I just smiled back. "Umm, sir you must leave." The little women said. I nodded as I stood up and walked out of the room. I would let Isabelle and Emeline have their new dresses. I walked into the hallway and there was Alexander. "Nice." He said as he put on his cape.
"Nighttime practice?" Alexander stated as he put his hand on his sword. "Of course." I replied as I smiled.
