Dark and His Queen

Homecoming

Laura and Dark appeared in their living room.  "It is so good to be..." Laura wasn't able to finish her words because Anti glitched into the room scooping Laura up in his arms and spinning her around.  Dark smiled at the pure joy on both Anti and Laura's faces.  Laura and Anti were both giggling like school children.  Anti finally put her down.  "I am so happy you are home.  Are you ok?  Do you need anything?  What can I do?"   Laura laughed.  "First thing you can do is calm down."  Laura held on to both of his shoulders.  "I am ok.  I promise.  I am not in any more pain.  I have no more fever.  I am good as new."  "You look so much better."  "Are you implying there was a time when I look bad?"  Laura teased.  "No... I... I just..." Laura burst out laughing. Dark was laughing as well.  "I was kidding.  I know I looked like shit.  I felt like shit."   Anti blushed.  "Where is Die?"  "He is off taking care of some stuff.  He will be home later.  He can't wait to see you either.  We were all so worried about you."  "I heard.  Something about moping around the house. Or not so much moping."   Anti glared at Dark.  Dark shrugged his shoulders.  "I bet it was more like glitching around rather then moping.  Laura snickered.  Anti gave her a devious look.  "Oh you."   He lunged at her and she dodged him laughing, then took off running.  Anti chased her through the house but Laura was good at dodging him.  So he glitched and caught her, grabbed her and tickled her until she begged for mercy.  "That is no fair."   Laura fake pouted.  Laura ran over to Dark and wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.  "I am so happy to be home."  "We are happy to have you home."  Laura let out a massive yawn.  "Time to get you to bed."   Dark said.  "No, I can't go to sleep yet.  Not until I see Die."  "Die. You need to come home right now.  Laura needs to see you.  She is home?" Anti spoke telepathically.  Die appeared in the living room almost instantly.  "DIE!"   Laura screamed and ran up and gave him a hug.   Die stood there a bit uncomfortable and taken aback by her hug but he finally put his arms around her obviously happy to see her.  Laura finally stepped back.  "I was worried I wasn't going to see you before I went to bed."  "I am sorry. I wanted to be here when you got home but I had things that needed tending."  "I completely understand that.  I just didn't want to go to sleep without seeing you.  I missed you so much.  Now I need to go to bed."    "Go get some sleep.  I am very happy you are home."  "Me too."  Laura yawned again.  "Ok princess, now it is time to get you to bed."  "Agreed. Come darling, our bed awaits."   All three chuckled at Laura.  Dark took Laura by the arm and escorted her upstairs.  Laura flopped down on their big bed.  "I am going to sleep like the dead tonight."   Dark's face got really serious.  "Don't joke like that."   Laura's smile faltered when she saw his expression.  Laura crawled to the end of the bed and got up on her knees.  "I am sorry.  I didn't mean to say something wrong."   Dark took her face in his hands.  "I thought I was going to lose you.  I was scared you were not coming back."   Tears started running down Laura's cheeks.  Dark wiped them away with his thumbs.  "Don't cry princess."   "It makes me sad to know how worried you were about me.  I didn't mean to upset you.  Any of you."  "It is just that we have never felt about anything or anyone the way we feel about you.  I have never given much thought to human mortality until now.  The thought of losing you scares me."  "I am here.  See."   Laura rested her hands on his chest.  "You can see me.  You can feel me.  I am here.  I am not going anywhere.  I am sorry I scared you."   Laura kissed him.  Dark kissed her back.  Laura deepened the kiss.  Dark broke the kiss and held Laura by the arms.  "There is plenty of time for that.  You need to rest and regain your strength.  Come now.  We sleep."  Dark climbed into the bed with  Laura.  She snuggled close to him like in her dream.  "This is so much better.  I am so happy to be back home in my own bed.  That hospital bed was not as comfy and cozy."   Laura wrapped her and Dark in the big blanket and rested her head on Dark's chest and within minutes she was sleeping.

          Dark laid there with Laura all night long.  He didn't sleep, he didn't move.  He just held her close watching her.  He knew she was not sick anymore and he knew she was there and safe but he was still reeling from the experience.  This whole thing made him think about the fact that Laura is human.  She gets sick and injured.  She will grow old and eventually die.  The thought caused Dark to shiver.  There was only so much he could do to keep her safe but he could not fight against nature and human life.  A thought popped into his head but he pushed it away.  He wasn't sure if that was the right option.  But after he thought it, it lingered there in is mind for the rest of the night.  Laura slept late into the afternoon.  When she opened her eyes and looked up at Dark he smiled at her.  "You know you have been doing that a lot lately?"   She said, her voice still groggy with sleep.  "Doing what?"   He asked.  "Smiling."   "I have not."   "Yes, you have.  I noticed it before I got sick.  It was occasional and quick but I think yesterday you had a smile on for a whole half an hour."   Laura teased.  "I am just happy to have you back.  Seeing you happy makes me happy."   "I am glad.  I am also glad you didn't try to kill Anti when he hugged me last night."  "I know that Anti is not going to try anything.  He cares about you as much as I do and I know how worried he was about you."  "Good."   Laura lifted her head and kissed Dark on the cheek.  Laura stretched and groaned.  "I am so stiff from laying in that bed for days.  I need a nice hot shower."   Laura got up out of bed and pulled off all her clothes.  She put her hand on the door knob and turned back to see Dark watching her.   "Well are you just going to lay there and stare, or are you going to join me?"   She asked with a devilish smile.  Dark smirked, snapped his fingers and was standing by her side, clothes off, lifting her into his arms.  Dark kicked open the door and Laura swung it shut behind them.
