Dark stayed close as Laura was in the kitchen preparing dinner. Neither of them had seen any sign of Wilford. Anti and Die arrived in the kitchen as well. They both looked nervous and on edge "Guys, please, calm down. I am sure everything will be fine. Just try not to over react." They all gave her a sideways glance. "Yeah, I know, that is a lot to ask of you guys." She said giggling. The guys mulled around the kitchen talking amongst themselves while Laura cooked. Just before dinner was finished she asked the guys to set the table for her. She went to walk out of the kitchen and Dark stopped her. "Where do you think you are going?" He asked. "I am going to knock on Wilford's door and let him know that dinner is done." "You will do no such thing." "Dark, relax. I did the same thing this afternoon for lunch." Laura kissed him on the cheek. "Now go sit with the guys. I will be right back." Laura walked away. Dark joined Anti and Die at the table. "Where is Laura?" Anti asked. "She went to go get Wilford." Dark replied. Anti jumped to his feet. "And you let her!" Anti shouted. "Sit down!" Dark's voice boomed. Anti sat down. Dark took a deep breath. "We have to trust her on this. That girl has more balls then all of us put together. Just follow her lead tonight. OK?" Anti and Die nodded in agreement. Laura knocked on the large pink door. There was no answer. She thought maybe he was not home, so she turned to leave. She was only a couple steps away when Wilford opened the door. She turned back around to see he was standing with his shirt unbuttoned and his bowtie untied. She averted her eyes. "I am so sorry if I interrupted you. I just wanted to let you know that dinner is ready and the guys are waiting for you." "No interruption darling. I was just changing. I will be there shortly." Laura walked away and could feel that he was watching her leave. She finally heard his door close. When she returned to the guys they looked at her confused as to why she was alone. "He will join us shortly." Was all she said. She poured glasses of water for everyone and then she made them each a plate. They sat at the table with the food in front of them waiting. "Why are we not eating?" Die asked. "Because it is rude to eat before everyone has joined." Laura answered. "This is redicul..." Die was cut off as Wilford entered the room. "Sorry gents and lady for making you wait." Wilford said with a bow. Laura noticed he was wearing a yellow t-shirt with a pink bowtie on it. He still had on his suspenders. "You know it is not polite to keep people waiting. Especially when they cooked for you." Dark stated. Laura could tell that he was trying his hardest to keep it together. "My apologies. I was in the middle of changing when the little lady knocked on my door. I came as soon as I was done getting dressed." Laura could see the tension rising in Dark's shoulders. She placed her hand on his knee under the table and gave it a gentle squeeze. He looked at her. She smiled sweetly at him. Laura saw him relax a bit. Laura turned her attention to Wilford. "Thank you for joining us. It will be nice to have a new addition to our nightly dinners." "Why, thank you darling. That is awfully sweet of you." They all ate quietly for the first few minutes until Dark spoke. "So what brings you back early Will? We weren't expecting you for another couple of weeks." Wilford faked pouted. "What? Not happy to see me Dark?" "I am just curious." "Well let's just say my host was no longer accommodating so I headed home early." "Are you planning on staying long?" Dark asked. "Now, Dark. I am getting the feeling I am not wanted here." "It's not that." Anti jumped in. "It is just that this was the longest you had been away. We are all just surprised and curious is all." Anti finished. Wilford let out an eerie laugh. He then proceeded to tell of his exploits of rape and murder and mayhem. Laura could see from his stories how he differed from the others. He did seem unhinged. Laura just listened in silence. She ate her food taking in the situation and every one's body language. The guys seemed more relaxed once they all started talking. Anti without thinking started talking about the times he and Laura had gone out to cause a little trouble. Laura could immediately feel Dark tense up again. "She did mention you paid a visit to Jack but that was all she said." Wilford looked at Laura. "I wasn't withholding anything. You asked how I knew Jack. I answered your question. Laura stated plainly. "She is a sly one. I see." Wilford was gearing that statement towards Dark. "She is something else." Dark replied. Wilford reached over stoking a lock of Laura's hair. "I see that." Dark, Anit, and Die all stood up at the same time causing Laura to jump. She stood as well. "Guys, relax it is fine." Laura said, hoping to defuse the situation. "Yeah guys it's fine." Wilford repeated touching her hair again. Laura spun to face Wilford. "I am trying to be as polite as possible. Could you please not do that?" Laura said sternly enough to get her point across but not as much as to come off bitchy. Wilford put his hands up in surrender. "Sorry. I didn't mean to cross a line." "Thank you. Can we all finish eating now?" Laura asked. Wilford shot Dark a strange look that Laura couldn't quite figure out. Laura sat down and waiting for everyone else to do the same. They ate in silence for the rest of the meal. Once they were all done Die started to clear the table. Anti got up to help. "It's your turn to wash and my turn to dry tonight." Anti said. "Oh man, I hate washing." Die responded. Laura giggled. "Well now that we are using more dishes maybe we can get a dishwasher in here." She suggested. Die's eyes got really wide with excitement. "That would be awesome." Laura laughed whole hardily this time. Laura caught a glimps of Wilford he was watching the situation with an odd look on his face. Laura ignored it and went on helping clear the table. Wilford stood up as she reached for his plate. Dark promptly stood as well but didn't move from his spot. "Dinner was exceptional my dear. Thank you for including me." "You are welcome. Thank you for joining us. As I said earlier, you are welcome to join us if you like any night." "I appreciate the offer. If you will all excuse me I think I am going to retire to my room for the night." "Have a good night." Laura said. "You do as well." Wilford nodded at Dark before he left the room. Dark was by Laura's side in an instant. "Are you ok?" He asked. Laura giggled. "Do I not look ok?" She joked. Dark was not in a joking mood. "Babe, i'm fine. I was more worried about you." Dark wrapped his arms around Laura and pulled her close to him. Laura just let him hold her. She didn't know what to say to reassure him at this point. "Come on, let's go check on the boys and make sure they are not killing each other in the kitchen. Also, I think a dishwasher might be a good idea." Dark smiled at her. They headed to the kitchen and found Anti and Die chatting while washing and drying. They had a pretty nice rhythm going. Laura giggled, causing them to turn around. "What?" They both asked. "Oh, nothing. I just wanted to come check on you guys. You all right?" "Yeah we are good. Are you alright?" "I am fine. Is there anything you need from us before we turn in for the night?" "No, we are good." "Goodnight." "Goodnight." Laura and Dark headed upstairs. Laura thought she saw something out of the corner of her eye but when she looked there was nothing there. She figured it must have been her nerves playing tricks on her. The evening had been high stress. Once in the room Laura changed into her jammies and crawled into bed. Dark changed as well joining her. He wrapped his arms around Laura and pulled her close. Their noses practically touching. She could tell he was still feeling protective over her. She ran her hand through his hair. "That didn't go so bad." Laura said. Dark scoffed at her. "So, what is the deal with you two?" Laura asked. "It's a long story." "You will have to tell me sometime. I can tell there is history with you two. It is different then you and Anti." "I don't like how perceptive you are sometimes." "Bullshit. You love everything about me. It is just not convenient right now because of the situation." "I can't argue with you there." Dark kissed her nose. "I take it from now on, either Anti or Die will be home with me when you are not here?" "See perceptive." "I love you." "I love you too." Laura snuggled close to Dark and let him hold her all night long.
