Dark and His Queen

In my dreams

Mark must have dozed off because he felt himself being pulled from sleep by something shaking him. He opened his eyes. Najee was shaking his shoulder. "Mark, the doctor is here." Mark jumped out of his chair. "Tell me she is ok?" Mark said a little louder then he planned. "Laura is stable. She suffered a heart attack. We have her sedated and she should be asleep for a while but you can see her as soon as she wakes up." "A heart attack? She had the flu. How does that happen?" Mark asked confused. "The flue has lowered her immune system causing the infection to attack her lungs and the stress on her body was to much for her heart." "Is she going to be ok?" "It is a waiting game right now. You two should go get something to eat." "Thank you doctor." The doctor smiled and walked back through the double doors. "I think eating is a good idea. You want to take a walk down to the cafe?" Mark suggested. "I don't think I can eat right now. My stomach is in knots." Najee replied. "I hear you. Ok, I am going to get something I will be right back. Call me if they come back out." "Of course. Mark walked to the elevator. He decided to order a bunch of different things to tide them over seeing as he knew he was going to be there a while and that Najee would eventually need to eat something. So, he bought some bagels, muffins and pastries. He also picked up some sandwiches as well. When he returned to the waiting room he found Najee on the phone arguing with someone. He gave her some space and sat down to eat one of the sandwiches. Once she hung up, Najee sat down next to Mark. "Everything ok?" Mark asked. "Yeah, just my girlfriend. She is mad that I am here." Mark didn't ask any questions. He handed Najee a soda and showed her the array of food he had. "You really should eat. We have been here a while." Najee smiled and took one of the pastries. "Thank you." "You're welcome." They sat silently and ate. About an hour later a nurse came through the door. "Najee and Mark?" They both stood up and approached her. "Laura is awake, and she is asking for you. Right this way please." Mark and Najee followed the nurse down the hall and into a different room then before. Laura looked even more pale then she had when they left, she had more wires attached to her. Now there were wires on her chest too. Her eyes were closed. Najee approached the bed and took Laura's hands. Laura opened her eyes. She tried to smile but failed. "Hey, you gave us quiet a scare." Najee said softly. "Sorry." Laura whispered barley audible. "Just get better soon ok?" Laura nodded and closed her eyes. "Dark, Laura is awake now. She had a heart attack. The doctor said she is stable for now, but they have to keep an eye on her. I will update you with anything new." "Thank you, Mark." "Laura? Can you hear me?" "Princess, answer me if you can." "Dark." Dark sighed in relief. "I need you to rest now. I need you to take it easy and get well. I just needed to hear you. Call me when you are able." "I will."

Laura felt something on her arm. She opened her eyes to see Najee was rubbing it. "Hey, there you are." Najee whispered. Laura opened her mouth to speak but she was so dry no words came out. Laura tried to lick her lips but that didn't help either. Najee walked to the table near by and poured water in to a small cup. "Here, drink this. Slowly." Najee held the cup to Laura's lips. Laura sipped. She swallowed a few times and then took another drink. "Thank you." Laura said, her voice still low and raspy. Laura looked to the side and saw an empty chair and tensed up. "Where is Mark?" "He is in the bathroom. Laura relaxed back down. "Listen, I have to leave as soon as Mark is back. Mari has been blowing up my phone." "I understand. What time is it?" "It is 3 am." "Now I see why she is mad. Go, I will be fine. I am sure Mark will call you if anything happens." "I will be back as soon as I can." Mark walked over to Laura's bedside. "Hi. You are looking more awake. How are you feeling?" "I feel a little bit better now that I got something to drink and got rid of that damn cotton mouth." Laura smiled briefly. "You sound better too." "Ok, I have to go. Mark, take care of her please and call me if anything happens. I will be back soon." "Bye Naj, try not to worry about me. I will be fine." Laura said. "She is in good hands." Mark assured her. Najee hesitated at the door, hand on the knob. Then she was gone. Mark sat down next to Laura. "Have you talked to Dark?" Mark asked. "Briefly before. I was going to after Najee left." "Ok, I will leave you alone then. Just let me know if you need anything." "Thank you, Mark. I really appreciate you being here." "No worries." Mark pulled out his phone and stated scrolling through it. Laura closed her eyes and called out to Dark. "Dark?" "I am here princess." "Dark, I miss you. I miss being home with you. I miss you holding me." Laura started to cry. "Oh, baby don't cry. You will be home in my arms before you know it." "I don't like to wait. I want to be home now. I know you guys as well. Have you been moping around the house worried? Tell me you have at least went to work?" "I have not been moping, I don't mope. I did go to work but I couldn't concentrate while there, so I came home." "How are Anti and Die? Do they know what is happening?" "They do. Anti is a mess. I don't think you can call what he is doing moping either. We all need you to get well and come home to us." "Do you remember before we met, you came to me in my dream." "Of course I do." "Can you do that again. Can you come to me in my dream?" "I can. Go to sleep. Clear your mind. Think only of us and how it feels when we are together." Laura opened her eyes and she was no longer in the hospital. Instead she was laying in their bed. The curtains were drawn and there was only a sliver of light breaking through the heavy drapes. The blankets were warm and cozy. She was snuggled under the covers not wanting to move but when she heard Dark clear his throat behind her she rolled over to find he smiling at her. aura threw her arms around him. He encircled her in a hug. He was so comforting and safe feeling. She started kissing him all over his face. "Hi." Laura said between kisses. Dark chuckled at her excitement. "Hello princess." "It feels so good to hold you." "I will hold you again soon, I promise." Laura looked up at him with a devious smile. "If I wasn't worried about my heart we would be doing a lot more then holding each other." Dark smirked. "We will have plenty of time for that." "You might have to take a day off so we can make up for lost time." Dark chuckled and kissed Laura on her forehead. "Dark the doctor is here to check on Laura. They are about to wake her up." Mark spoke to Dark. Dark's smile faded. "Princess, you have to go now." "I know, I heard him too." Dark looked at Laura surprised. "You did?" "Yeah, why?" "Never mind. You go now. I will talk to you soon." Laura kissed Dark one last time.
