Alex's POV:
As soon as the gym door shut behind me with a thud, I was enveloped in darkness. I could only see shapes that were immediately in front of me. I began moving forward with my arms feeling around in front of me in hopes to feel something that resembled a light switch. I started walking to the right until I felt the wall, placing my hands flat on the surface. I then began walking forward, moving my hands around as I did. When I finally found the light switch after what seemed like an eternity, I flipped the switch and immediately gasped.Instead of the huge clunky lights that usually hung from the ceiling, there were smaller lights, brighter ones. Your eyes are more beautiful and shine brighter than any star I've ever seen. I smiled to myself. Tyler was much sweeter than I gave him credit for.
I looked in front of me and found a trail of rose petals leading to Tyler, who was at the far side of the gym. I slowly made my way towards him, walking on the rose petal path, grinning the whole way. Tyler was wearing a suit, making him look all the more handsome and making me feel all the more giddy. I'm not the girl that people imagine would typically get caught up in the romance, I didn't think so either, but I suppose that no girl is immune to this.
I lightly blushed at his grand gesture. Also because of the fact that I could hear the shuffling of feet just outside the door and could hear six voices loudly whispering to one another as I closed the distance between me and Tyler. Even as I reached him, I had no idea what he was planning.
He grabbed my hands in his, making soothing circles on the back of my palm with his hand. I could tell that he was nervous, I just wished I knew what he was nervous about. He took a deep breathe and began a speech that he must've practiced for a while. Nonetheless, it was spoken from his heart and it was beautiful.
"Alex, when I first met you, you stood out like a sore thumb. You looked like you felt so out of place, like you didn't belong, which was probably because at the time you were new to town. And I couldn't help think that you looked so beautiful when you were just sitting there. So, I decided to get to know you better. I began observing you, trying to figure you out. I found out that you are brave, and kind, and wonderful. So, I decided to grow a pair and talk to you again. And I am so glad that I did."
He began kneeling down onto one knee and my eyes instantly widened. I began shaking my head and mouthing one word to him over and over again. No.
I wasn't ready to get married yet! Nowhere near ready! I was panicking. Of course I had thought about marrying Tyler, maybe one day, but not while we were so young! Not now!
Tyler pulled a black box out of his back pocket and held it in front of him. Then he looked back up at me with the littlest of smiles and popped the question.
"Alexandra Monica Everpin," he whispered my name so that only I could hear him. "will you make me the happiest man alive by marrying me." Before I had the chance to say anything, he chuckled and opened the small black box.
I expected to see a ring since Tyler was proposing. However, in place of a ring, there was a necklace with one word written on it. The word was "someday."
I immediately released the nervous breath that I was holding and enjoyed the sound of Tyler laugh as he watched me. To say that I was relieved would be the understatement of the century. Suddenly the nervousness left and I was filled to the eyeballs with the giddy feeling again as I replayed the extremely cute gesture in my head once more.
I kneeled down in front of Tyler so that we were on the same level and kissed him passionately. I put all of my feeling for him into this kiss and conveyed all of my love to him. All of that love was said in one word that I spoke to him. My voice lowered until it was barely above a whisper and I said "yes."
His face immediately broke into a grin just before he kissed me again. I could feel his smile against my lips. A few seconds later I heard an eruption of applause and laughs. I turned around, breaking off the kiss from Tyler, making him pout. I saw Angie and Maddie, of course, and Hunter and Brent, Tyler's friend from the basketball team.
Hunter came up to me and kissed me on the cheek, ignoring the glare from Tyler. "I still love you, but as a sister. I've always loved you as a sister. Don't you ever forget that okay?" I chuckled at him and nodded my head, giving a tight hug.
They were all still cheering for us and it made me blush, but something didn't seem right. I looked around trying to pinpoint what it was when it hit me. I heard six people whispering earlier, not four. Me and Tyler weren't talking at all, so where were the other two people? When were they gonna show up?
Wait.
Maybe they weren't gonna show up. Maybe they didn't want me to know that they were there. Tyler beating up and getting away from my father had seemed way too easy, what if it was meant to be easy? It should've at least made the news, even if we were in a different town. Then a thought dawned on me. Was Tyler followed back home? Had they been watching me for all this time? If that was the case then they have more than enough evidence to arrest me. We talked about it when Tyler got home, I was repeatedly checking the news to see if there was anything about it and just now. Because Tyler called me by my name. And as if on cue, I felt a sharp pain in my neck and everything went black as I hear people's screams and a person talking into a radio.
Mwah hah hah! I'm sorry, I'm a bit evil. So how'd you guys like this chapter? It was super cute and then took a sharp turn real quick. What do you think happened to Alex?
