Alex's POV:
I sat down as I watched the stranger on the other side of the glass. I had never seen his face before but he looked relieved when he saw confusion on face instead of something else. He seemed a bit timid, as though he was afraid of what I might think of him.

We reached for the phone simultaneously and held it to our faces. I could tell that he was nervous about meeting me, but I couldn't tell why. He broke his gaze away from me when he looked down and let out a sad chuckle. "I imagined hundreds of different ways that I would meet you, none of which consisted of you glaring at me through a slab of glass."

He let out another chuckle as his eyes found mine again. My eyes softened at his words, although I still didn't know who he was. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to glare. It's just been a rough couple of days and I have no idea who you are."

His nervousness appeared to increase tenfold at the last sentence. "My name is John Pilsen." My back straightened and my eyes widened at the mention of his name. This was my real father. "You're grandmother said that she told you about me." It was more of a question than a statement, but I was too shocked to say anything. But I found it in me to nod as I tried to close my mouth. "Hunter told me that you two had some... interactions?" I immediately looked away and blushed before trying to explain.

"I didn't really know him at the time. I needed a place to stay and he was really nice to me..." He put his hand up to silence me, and it worked.

"You don't need to explain yourself to me. I should be the one doing the explaining. I imagine that you have a few questions." God, where do I start?

"Where have you been?"

"I wanted to be there for you and I wanted to be with you, but your grandmother kept stopping me. She kept telling me that it wasn't time to introduce me to you yet." I nodded my head. It made sense. My father would've gone off the edge if he my real father showed up wanting to meet me.

"Hunter said that you don't live with him anymore?"

"Yeah, I had a lot of conferences to attend in Europe, but majority of those are over now. I flew back home last night." Before I could get another question out, he hit me with one. "Will you live with us?" My eyes widened at the suggestion. "It's just that they told me that without David present, then your mom isn't a suitable guardian for you, since she doesn't have a job. I figured that if you moved in with me and Hunter, then you could continue your life in that town and we could get to know each other better. Plus, they said that if you don't move in with me, then they would have put you in the foster care system, and I don't want that to happen to you. So... what do you say?"

I couldn't hold back the grin that spread across my face. I felt the sudden urge to hug John, but of course didn't try it. "I would love to." A matching grin spread across his face.

--

I had gotten to change back into my clothes, which of course were a baggy black t-shirt with blue skinny jeans and my white converse. I was sitting down with me, John, and Tyler on one side of the table, while Mr.Miller and Mr.Thomas sat on the other side. Mr.Miller was explaining the terms of my release while simultaneously getting John to sign papers.

"You need to go to this psychotherapist at least twice a week." He handed me a card with her picture and her information before turning to John. "And you need to go to the psychotherapist once a week to tell her about Alexandra's sleeping habits. She needs to sleep with restraints on until her therapist says that she can sleep without them." Mr.Miller was about to continue until John stopped him.

"Wait, what do you mean restraints?"

"She needs to be handcuffed to her bed frame in such a way that she won't be able to move far away from the bed. You can uncuff her when she wakes up the next morning, but she needs the handcuffs when she goes to sleep." It was Tyler's turn to speak up.

"Can people still sleep in her room?" His ears went a bit pink.

"Yes, as long as the restraints are there by the time she goes to bed."

A few signatures later, Mr.Miller stood up and gestured for us to do the same. He came up to me and hugged me, which took me by surprise. He released me before I had a chance to react, and shook hands with John and Tyler. He then turned his attention back to me. "You're free to go." He seemed so proud to say this that we both found ourselves smiling. I jumped into Tyler's arms and gave him a quick peck on the lips before hugging John as well. We all looked at each other before practically sprinting towards John's car. I started laughing when I reached the car before the other two and they joined in when they caught up to me. People gave us weird looks as they passed by, some even scowled, but we didn't care. We were just happy that that part of our lives was over.

We filed into the car, me and Tyler sitting in the backseat so we could cuddle, and John in the driver's seat. He agreed to giving Tyler a ride back to his house so that he wouldn't have to ride in a police car. I heard the gentle purr of the engine as the car pulled out of the police department parking lot. I fell asleep in Tyler's arms, he followed soon after.

--

I woke with a start when I felt someone shaking my shoulder. "Alex, it's time to wake up, sweetheart." A gentle but deep voice said. I opened my eyes to see John smiling down at me. He kept eyeing the arm that Tyler had put around me. I guess his paternal instincts have already kicked in, which I didn't mind at all.

I shook Tyler awake, and after a few groans and kisses, he finally got out of the car. We weren't at Tyler's house, like I thought we would be to drop Tyler off. We were at Hunter's house. I suppose John didn't want Tyler to miss me adjusting to my new home.

I didn't have any things to carry inside, except for my phone and the clothes I wore when I was arrested.

Not ten seconds after I set foot into the familiar house, I was body slammed. I mean I was knocked over and my back hit the ground hard. The person who tackled me had a bit of a high pitched voice, but it sounded mature somehow. "Oh my god! You must be my new little sis! You're so cute!" The person then proceeded to pinch my cheeks so hard that it made me wince in pain.

I hear John chuckle from the doorway. "Rache, get off of her." The girl obeyed, kinda like a loyal dog. She then held out her hand to help me up and I quickly obliged.

The girl had beautiful light brown hair that was straight and was in very good shape. Some kind of athlete, I'm sure. This was probably Hunter's older sister that went off to college. She had a sheepish smile on her face. "Sorry, I just got really excited when I saw you walk through the door. I'm Rachel, but Hunter and Dad call me Rache."

I like her already. "I'm Alexandra, but please call me Alex."

She said my name, as though she was testing it on her tongue. "Alex." She said with a smile on her face. "I think we're gonna be great sisters."

"Definitely." My smile mirrored hers. John spoke up again.

"Hunter! Get down here, Alex is here!" We heard quick and heavy footsteps that lead to the staircase and saw Hunter running down the stairs. He came to a stop just in front of me to catch his breath, before giving me a tight hug. I was shocked and remained frozen for a moment, before wrapping my arms around him. Despite our breakup and the recent new that we were siblings, I had missed this idiot.

"Oh Alex! You're probably hungry, right? I made my famous lasagna as a homecoming meal for you!" I broke away from Hunter's embrace to turn my attention towards Rachel. I couldn't stop a smile from spreading across my face as I thought about how much care she must've put into the meal.

"It sounds amazing."

And I wasn't just talking about the meal.
