Alex's POV:
It was now sometime around two in the afternoon and I was preparing dinner since I had nothing better to do. I decided to put on some music to make the activity more fun and ended up dancing around the kitchen as I waited for the potatoes to finish boiling so I could make mashed potatoes. If Tyler walked in to find me dancing like this, I wouldn't hold it against him if he kicked me out so that he would never have to see it again. But I didn't care because I was having the time of my life.
I took my performance to another level by grabbing a wooden spoon and used it as a microphone as I sang along to the lyrics of Nicotine by Panic! At the Disco. I probably sounded like a dying walrus.
I nearly yelled the chorus. "You're worse than nicotiiiinnneeeee! Nnniiiiiccccooootttttiiinne!" I began dancing again as the chorus ended and the song played the sound of multiple instruments playing together, the next part of the song.
As the song changed to When We Were Young by Adele, I went back to the potatoes. I took the pot to the sink and emptied out the steaming water. I then filled the pot with much colder water, my attempt at cooling the potatoes before I peeled them. I sang along to the lyrics as I peeled the potatoes and put the shavings into a bowl. "Everybody loves the things you do. From the way you talk, to the way you move. And everybody here is watching you. Cause you feel like home you're like a dream come true." I finished peeling the potatoes and began to mash them together in a large bowl after throwing away the shavings. "And if by chance, you're here alone. Could I have a moment, before I go?" Once I finished mixing I put the wooden spoon in the sink and closed my eyes, really feeling the song. My voice got louder as I sang. "Cause I've been by myself all night long, hoping you're someone... I used to know." I set the table as I sang along with Adele. "Cause you look like a movie, you sound like a song. My god, this reminds me, of when we were young." I turned back around and saw Tyler leaning against the railing of the staircase looking at me with his eyebrows raised and a small smile playing on his lips. His hair was a bit messy and his clothes were a bit wrinkled. "Were you sleeping?" I asked.
He responded in his morning voice, which happened to be very deep and very hot. "Yeah, you're singing kind of woke me up. Not that I'm complaining." He was in front of me now. He put his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him. I could feel him warm breath on my neck which made me involuntarily shiver. He chuckled, but didn't make any move to let go of me. So I wrapped me arms around his neck and held him as he held me. Then he pulled away and placed a gentle kiss to my forehead. "I gotta go to Brent's house." He whispered as he let me go completely.
"Why?" I asked out of curiosity.
He rubbed the back of his neck as he answered. "He needs advice about something with this one girl that he's liked for a while." I nodded my head in understanding as he went up the stairs to get dressed in more presentable clothes. I doubt he wants to go to his friend's house in his boxers and a plain t-shirt, which is what he sleeps in. I went back to setting the table until Tyler came back down the stairs a few seconds later with a button down shirt and some jeans paired with converse. Yes, we have the same shoes.
He grabbed his car keys and gave me a quick peck on the lips before heading out the door. I turned back around and signed. How do I pass the time? Just then, I got a phone call. A glance at the screen let me know that it was from Maddy. I didn't feel like going shopping with her like she usually asks me to, but I haven't talked to her in a while and my guilt got the best of me. "Hey Maddy." I greeted her. "What's up?"
"So my dad was supposed to take me to this fancy restaurant today for dinner but for some reason he got pulled into a meeting and won't be able to get out of it until much later. So he gave me his credit card and told me to have a blast with my friends instead. So I invited Angie to go shopping," of course "and afterwards we'll go to dinner at a fast food restaurant. Will you please come with us?" She said that all in one breath surprisingly.
"I don't feel like going today. Maybe another time?"
"Oh come on! I'm paying and we haven't spent a ton of time together recently." She did make a good argument, and she sure knows how to make people feel guilty.
"Ugh, fine I'll go." As I said this I could hear the shuffling of a bunch of people in the background. I decided to ask her about it. "What's that sound in the background?" The shuffling immediately stopped.
Maddy let out a nervous chuckle and quickly said "What noise? I'll pick you up in twenty minutes. Love you, bye!" She hung up. She's planning something. I know she is. I stared at the phone while shaking my head at Maddy then went upstairs to my room to try and find an outfit to wear. It's been a while since I've cared about my appearance and it felt nice. After a while of staring in my closet, I decided to go with a white t-shirt, blue jeans and white converse with a plaid shirt tied around my waist. I looked in the mirror and flipped my hair to my right side so that my part was to the left. After giving myself a last look I left the room.
I went downstairs and grabbed my brown bag, stuffing my phone, wallet, and laptop in there. I could feel my excitement level rising as I heard Maddy honk from outside. Today was going to be a good day.
Hey guys! Alex's outfit was cute right? I thought so. Anyways, how'd you guys like this chapter? I kinda found Tyler's reason for going out a bit sketchy. And what was the shuffling in the background? What do ya think Maddy's planning? Hmm...
Don't forget to vote and comment!
Luv ya!
