Two weeks went by and school was fast approaching. With school came responsibility and work, needless to say, Yoongi was not looking forward to going to school.Currently Yoongi was out shopping for new supplies with his mom. In addition to the stuff Yoongi needed for class, she also needed to get somethings for her classroom.
"Are you sure you want that backpack?" Yoongi's Mother asked as her son picked out the pure black school bag. He nodded his head yes.
"Why don't you get one with colour?" She suggested pointing to the bag with blue and red polka dots all over it.
"Black is a colour." Yoongi answered in all seriousness, looking his mother in the eye.
"You're right, I can't argue with that." She said walking to the checkout.
......
"So are you guys gonna come to my birthday party? It will be fun! There's gonna be cake and presents, we'll play games too!" Jungkook said excitedly. With the new school year came Jungkook and Jin's annual birthday bash. Their parents always had a conjoint party because their birthdays were so close together. This year Jungkook was turning 7 and Jin was turning 11.
"I'll have to ask my parents." Taehyung answered.
"Me too." The rest of the group answered. They were all probably going to go, not because it was Jungkook's party but because of Seokjin.
The rest of the day the boys played in the park, today they were going to be pirates. They used the two play structures as rivalling ships, they each had sticks that acted as sharp swords. Everything was going well until Taehyung and Jin got a little too into character and started beating each other with sticks. This eared the two multiple bruises and scrapes, the worse along Taehyung's arm. After they had separated the two everyone decided it was time for everyone to go home.
.......
Another week passed and it was time for Junngkook and Jin's birthday, the group of children went over to the house and were greeted by a few more people they knew from school. A few of Jin's older friends showed up like Suho and Jae. There were also some of Jungkook's younger friends like Yugeom and Bambam.
The older boys mostly stayed to themselves, they ate ridiculous amounts of cake and candy. They played typical party games, pin the tail on the donkey, there was even a piñata. Unsurprisingly Joon was the one to break it open. The boys also decided to have a water gun fight, this was quickly stopped after Yoongi started hitting Jungkook in the face.
By around 4 o'clock in the afternoon the party was winding down, parents came to pick up their kids, Jimin was crying because someone shot his teddy bear with water. As usual Jungkook was telling on his brother for doing something slightly wrong.
Yoongi walked to his house but didn't feel like going in. It was too nice outside and these nice days were becoming numbered. He decided to play a little bit of basket ball. He searched around for his basket ball when he heard someone bouncing one. He turned around to see Hoseok at the end of the drive way.
"Let's play 21." Hoseok said starting to dribble to ball forward, he stopped and aimed. He missed.
"You're on!" Yoongi shouted getting the rebound and shooting the ball, he got it in.
Yoongi won of course but Hoseok still tried his best. When the game was over Yoongi's dad came out of the house to see what the two boys were doing. His dad played basket ball all through high-school and wanted Yoongi to do the same. He always encouraged him to practice to make sure he would get on the team when in middle school.
"You two are pretty good! You should both tryout for the team when you get to middle school." His dad was very passionate about the sport, it was the only way he could bond with his son.
"Who knows. I should get home it's getting dark. See you later Yoongs!" Hoseok said, passing the older the ball.
"C'mon inside, mom made pasta." His father said, putting a hand on his sons back guiding him into the house.
Days like this Yoongi didn't mind going home. His mom and dad seemed to be happy today and he didn't do anything to get in trouble. They all sat at the table enjoying their meal, pasta was Yoongi's favourite especially when his mom made it. They talked about different things, the party, Yoongi's friends and school all seemed to be popular discussion topics.
"Are you looking forward to grade 5? You're gonna be in class with Jin." His mother asked, she always wanted her son to enjoy school to bad he didn't. He was happy to have a friend in his class though. Jin may be older then him by a year but because of how late his birthday was he started school late.
"I don't really like school, there's too much reading and writing not enough music." Yoongi complained. Along with playing basket ball, he also played piano. He really enjoyed music and wanted to become a musician or something in the future.
"Well that's too bad, I'm sure you'll like school in the future. In high-school you can choose your own classes. You could probably take three or four music classes if you really wanted to." His mother was always encouraging of his dreams, his father on the other hand wasn't.
"Don't be silly, you'll still need to take some math and sciences. You can't make a career out of music, there are too many talented people trying." He said. After his words there was uncomfortable silence, Yoongi just focused on eating his dinner.
A little while passes and their nice supper is interrupted by a phone call. Without a word, his dad got up and answered his phone talking to someone in the living room. Yoongi watched his mother peer into the room, listening to the conversation trying to guess what it was about. The two heard him hang up and come back into the room.
"I need to go to the office, someone hacked the computers and they need my authorization to fix it." He explained grabbing his keys off the counter and walking out the door, he didn't even say goodbye.
Just like that a nice moment had turned sour.
Yoongi's father was still out when he went to bed, he was woken up by the sounds of shouting when he arrived back home. Being curious he snuck down the stairs and peered through the doorway into the living room.
"Why do you keep doing this! We are constantly low on money because of it! How the hell are we gonna let Yoongi do anything?" His mother shouted. Yoongi didn't have any idea what the two were talking about.
"That's exactly why I do this, I want our son to have a future! But you keep pumping his head full of these hopes that he would actually be able to make it as a musician!" His father shouted back. They were moving further into the room, Yoongi leaned into the room further to keep watching.
"Don't use him as an excuse for your problems! Contrary to what you believe gambling is an addiction!"
"Bullshit! I'm trying to help our family! If we're really that low on money why doesn't he just stop having piano lessons."
"Those lessons and Yoongi's favourite time of the week, I'm not taking that away from him just because you have a gambling problem. And how can you help when you keep losing?"
"I'm working harder then you are! You don't even work during the summer! All you do is sit around and drink wine while he's out with his friends!" This seemed to be the last straw for his mother because she started walking towards the door. Yoongi panicked and ran back to his room, he hoped that his mom didn't see him.
When Yoongi woke up the next morning he saw his dad asleep on the couch in the living room, the tv was still playing the same station as last night.
