The rest of the week Yoongi spent his time getting ready for the dance. On the outside he looked calm and cool but on the inside he was freaking out. Not only is it his first school dance, but he's also bringing a girl with him. It had originally seemed like a good idea bringing Suran with him. But as the day came closer he grew more and more anxious. Yoongi being Yoongi, didn't discuss how he was feeling and bottled everything up. The bottle seemed to explode the Thursday before the dance. Unfortunately, Dowoon has been the person to witness his mental breakdown. The day had started out fine, Yoongi and Dowoon were sitting in the back of the class minding their own business doing the work that had been assigned. Everything was fine until he reached a difficult question. The thing about bottling emotions was that any little thing could completely set you off, for example a difficult math equation.
"I don't give a shit, I don't give a fuck about this! Why do I even bother? I'm never gonna use it anyways." Yoongi complained, he was loud but not loud enough for anyone other then Dowoon to hear.
"What's your problem?" Dowoon asked.
"Do you really care?" Yoongi asked.
"Why would you care? No one ever cares?""Of course I care! Stop being ridiculous and just tell me what's going on." He responded. "I have a feeling it's not just about the math problem."
"Fine! You really wanna know?" Yoongi asked a final time.
Dowoon just nodded.
"I have a crush on Suran...so thinking it was a good idea I invited her to the dance with me. But I don't really know how that works and I've been stressing over that. On top of that school is a bitch that takes up all my time, whether it's homework or actually being here. Normally I would just practice piano to relieve stress but my dad sold my piano so that really fucking sucks. Not to mention that I can't even see my best friends most of the time. And he's the only person who I talk to anymore... on top of everything I'm not allowed to talk to Jin because of his little brat of a brother. And it's just I don't.... ugggg!" He said the last part louder causing the other students to notice. Without another word Dowoon made Yoongi get up and they walked out of the classroom.
"Go to the bathroom for a minute and wait for me...I'm just gonna tell the teacher you're not feeling well."
Yoongi listened to his friend, he went to the closest bathroom and waited until Dowoon came to see him. And soon enough he did."We only have a little bit of time so rant away. It'll make you feel better." Dowoon suggested. Yoongi did with minimal persuasion.
He talked about Seokjin and his frustration with that. He talked about school and the problems he had. Then he finally got to his home life, at this point he was going to say anything and everything. Yoongi talked about how much he didn't like his dad, about how his parents were planning a divorce. He talked about how his dad sold his piano then used the money to gamble and so much more. Yoongi didn't stop until the two boys heard the lunch bell, they knew they'd be in trouble but neither cared at this point.
Dowoon was glad Yoongi trusted him enough to rant and get all his emotions out. All in all Yoongi's little out burst caused them to grow closer as friends. Especially after they had to answer to the principle.
"You boys were supposed to be in class. Your teacher shouldn't have to look all over the school for you two. Even if you aren't feeling well you come to my office and call your parents to take you home." Mr.Waters scolded again. Yoongi was used to this but he could tell Dowoon wasn't, he sat in silence the whole time with his head down. Yoongi felt bad for his friend. He needed to comfort him, so when they exited the principles office they hugged it out. Unfortunately for them, a group of the annoying jocks in their grade were passing by.
Both boys could hear their laughs and insults, calling them gay and fags. This little incident was the peak of their friendship, now was the downfall.
......
The next day was the dance, Yoongi wasn't as nervous today, ranting to Dowoon really helped him. His previously nervous energy turned to excitement. School went by surprisingly fast, he didn't see Dowoon there however. None the less he had a good day. Before school started Suran met Yoongi at his locker and the two flirted, when school started Yoongi was over the moon which caused him to have a good day.
On the way home, he invited Hobi over to his house to help him decide on what to wear.
"What are you supposed to wear to these things anyways?" Yoongi asked.
"Well, probably something a little dressy but casual at the same time." Hobi said.
"I have no clue what that means." Yoongi said coming out of his closet, still wearing the same clothing as before.
"Let me find something then." Hoseok suggested. Yoongi stepped away from his clothing and let Hoseok look around. He emerged with a simple button up shirt and a pair of unripped jeans.
"Here." Hobi said throwing the clothes at his best friend. Not really caring Yoongi took off the clothes he was wearing, not noticing that Hobi was kinda checking him out, then put the new outfit on.
"Look good?" Yoongi asked. Hobi have a thumbs up.
"Thanks for the help Hobi. But I gotta get going."
"Don't mention it." Hoseok answered smiling, the two walked out of the house.
