Yoongi's last year of elementary school progressed slowly. Most days were the same, his life was boring. Yoongi spent more and more time with Suran, both in and out of school. And less time with his friends. He still sat with Jin in class, but that was about all the time he spent with him. Tae and Jimin became very distant, they were 2 years younger then him and didn't take the bus.The bus was the only chance Yoongi had to talk with Namjoon, they often sat and listened to music together on the ride home. The only one Yoongi never heard anything from was Hoseok, after Halloween they both drifted apart. Yoongi too preoccupied with Suran, and Hoseok to petty to speak with Yoongi. The most exchange the two have had was a wave in the morning before school. They'd be lying if they didn't admit they missed each other.
Yoongi being close friends with Suran, they got in trouble all the time. From staying out too late during recess to pulling pranks on supply teachers they were always in the principles office. Mr. Waters didn't even bother anymore and just sent the two back to class.
During recess they didn't play basketball, they plotted and planned their next class attack. Sometimes the two would get Jin's help as well. He was much more hesitant about causing issues though, and often tried to talk them out of doing it. Yoongi ignored him most of the time, not giving a flying fuck.
As the seasons changed Yoongi remained the same, until one spring day when he came home from Namjoon's house.
.......
Yoongi was walking home after a weekend afternoon full of video games. Namjoon's birthday had passed, he received a new gaming system and wanted Yoongi to come help him set it up. Yoongi was good with tech stuff and the two figured it out and were playing in no time. Yoongi and Joon lost track of time meaning Yoongi had to walk home in the dark.
It wasn't a long walk, and the street wasn't very dark. But something about walking alone at night freaked Yoongi out. This propelled him to walk faster. When he turned the corner to his house, he noticed a car in front of the house. It looked suspicious. He walked closer and noticed it was the police. Why were the police at my door? He asked himself. Yoongi slowed his walking and kept an eye on his house.
He slowly walked even further until he noticed people getting out of his house and into the car. Within a minute the car was gone. Yoongi walked briskly to his home, walking up the stairs slowly when he started hearing yelling. He opened the door and saw his parents having a screaming match, he closed it again putting his ear against the cold door.
"Are you fucking kidding me!" Yoongi heard his mother yell. "We're in the hole over $10 000 dollars because of you. How are we going to live? How is our son going to be happy? How are we going to eat?"
"It's not that bad! Well pay it off in no time, I'll just win som-"
"No you won't, you're not leaving this house for 'work' again so long as I'm living here. You didn't even tell me you got fired!"
They continued yelling and cursing and everything, it started escalating and escalating until something in them both snapped.
"Why do you always come home drunk and smelling like another woman's perfume?"
"I've been fucking someone else! I don't care about you! I haven't for a while! The only reason I'm still here is because of Yoongi!" He heard his father yell. It was too much, Yoongi took his ear away from the door and sat on the steps.
Don't you dare cry.
Yoongi thought to himself, in his fathers voice. He had said that to him a few times before.
Don't you dare cry.
But that's exactly what he did. He curled up into a ball and rocked himself bawling his eyes out. He didn't know how late it was but it felt like midnight. He didn't know what to do, he didn't want to go in. He just stayed on the steps until he heard a familiar voice say his name.
He turned to look at his neighbours house and Hobi stood at the door in his pyjamas. After seeing the state his friend was in Hoseok ran to Yoongi.
When he came up the stairs he heard the shouts. He knew he desperately needed to get Yoongi away from there. Hobi reached out, grabbing Yoongi's tear covered hand and pulling the weeping boy into a hug.
"It's gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay. I'm here." His voice was reassuring. They stood together for a while, Hobi's arms around him made him feel safe. After calming down a little bit, Yoongi let Hoseok walk him to his house. When they entered Hobi's mom waited for the boys to enter and guided the two upstairs.
There was an extra bed made in Hobi's room and Yoongi laid down on it, pulling the blankets onto his body. When Hoseok went to let go of his crying friend, Yoongi pulled him back down onto the mattress.
"P-pl-please stay. I've missed you." Hoseok didn't need much convincing. He laid beside his best friend, holding his hand, giving him strength and helping him calm down. Soon enough, the two boys were asleep together on the extra bed. Hands still intertwined and Yoongi's tears staining the pillow case.
