By the time the family reunion/camping trip came up, Yoongi's parents were on speaking terms. The two adults could actually have a conversation without getting into a screaming match with each other. Sure they had the odd disagreement but for the most part they were getting along.

The morning before the given date for the camping trip Yoongi's family gathered all their things and packed their little car with what camping supplies they had. The camp site chosen for the reunion was 8 hours away, but so was most of the Min family. When his father and Mother married, his dad decided to move far away from his hometown. Yoongi was never really sure why his father moved away from home so quickly, not until this trip to his grandparents. Why is it that when you get older, things seem much more obvious to you?

........
"We don't need a map!" His father yelled, Yoongi and his parents had been on the road for 3 hours and his father already managed to get them lost.

"Why not? They're helpful! Let's just take a break at this gas station and see if they have something." His Mother suggested. It was clear that this was only going to end one way and Yoongi didn't want to be in the car for that. So he made up a little lie to get his dad to pull over.

"I have to pee!" Yoongi shouted over his parents before they could really get into an argument.

"Okay. Fine. We'll stop at the gas station. But because of Yoongi not you." His father said rather harshly. His parents arguments lately were ridiculous, they found every little excuse to get mad at each other and it was childish. Yoongi could have sworn his friends got into similar arguments about the same things.

The car pulled into the rather quiet gas station parking lot and Yoongi went inside. His parents remained in the car arguing. This is when Yoongi realized this years camping trip was going to be different, and not for the better.

.......

Surprisingly the campground wasn't that bad. Usually the grounds looked cheep and unkept but this place looked nice. There was a beach, a football field, an outdoor theatre and to his fathers enjoyment a basketball court. Their site was in the middle of everything and had an available electrical outlet. Yoongi could charge his iPod and ignore the rest of his family. Yoongi and his father set up the tent in a record time while his mother went for a short bike ride to see who had already arrived.

"You excited for school?" His father asked while the two were waiting for his mother to get back.

"Not really." Yoongi replied bluntly. He didn't want to go back to school, everything was going to be different and he wouldn't be able to see his younger friends at recess. Not to mention the little incident he had with Jin and Jungkook.

"That's too bad, you aren't even looking forward to the basketball?"

"Nope."

"Why?"

Because I fucking hate basket ball because of you. "Not really sure, I guess I'm just not looking forward to summer being over." Yoongi said. He knew damn well why he wasn't excited for school, he also knew that his father wouldn't understand. He never really did.

"How are your friends? Hoseok and..Susan or something."

"It's Suran and their fine, Hobi's away at dance camp and Suran is spending the last of the break with her mom."

"That sounds nice. I didn't know Hoseok danced."

"Yeah, he and Jimin both do. They're pretty good at it too." Yoongi answered his father with a snappy expression. Luckily the man didn't really pick up on the tone.

"Isn't that more something girls do? Why doesn't he use his talents for something manly like basketball or something?"

Because not all of us need to constantly be surrounded by testosterone."I don't know...dance can be manly and masculine at times."

"I don't know abo-" His fathers words were cut off by the return of his mother. When she returned the basket on her bike was full of cards.

"These are all for you, they're from your birthday." His mom told him, passing the handful of envelopes to the boy.

"Really?"

"Yep, there's even one in there from great grandpa."

"That's nice"

"Why don't you give them a read Suga?"

"I will." He answered bringing the cards into the tent to read them over.

.......

"Yoonie! Yoonie! Yoonie! Min Yoonie! Hello? Are you even alive?" One of Yoongi's younger cousins had interrupted his reading. He wasn't too happy about it.

"What do you want Eric?" He said trying to sound as polite as he could. His mother made him come down to the beach, so he found a nice tree off to the side and read instead of swimming.

"Do you wanna build a sand castle? They're having a competition and you're really good at making them." He asked in his innocent sounding voice. He thought about the idea before ultimately agreeing.

"Under one circumstance!" He said before Eric could get too excited.

"Awwww...what is it?"

"I get to jump on it first when we're done."

"Deal!"
.......

The two boys ended up winning the competition, meaning they were the first ones up to eat at the potluck later that night. On the way back from the beach Yoongi decided to take the long way and adventure around the camping grounds. He visited a few family members, only waving because he didn't know them well enough to start conversation then moving on. When he came up to his uncle and aunt's site he heard the familiar voice of his father. He was with his older brother and the two sounded like they had been drinking. Being the curious person he is, Yoongi listened closer.

"As soon as I'm done paying off that debt we're gonna get a divorce. Things just aren't working, and I'm already seeing someone else. I just don't wanna leave Yoongi alone with her, she puts all these thought in his head and make him think unrealistically."

"What kinda thoughts?"

"That he can actually make a career off music! That it isn't weird to have a fag sleep over! That it isn't weird to have a girl sleep over!"

"Jeez, it's a miracle you two have worked out this long."

Yoongi couldn't listen anymore and stepped away, he held back tears. His  father managed to insult, him, his mother, and his two best friends all within the same conversation. He couldn't say anything to his father the rest of the visit, he didn't want to say anything. The rest of the camping trip was spent avoiding all contact he could with his father. He actually hung out with his little cousins and babysat for his aunts and uncles so they could get drunk. He needed any excuse to not be around his father.

On the way home from the camp, Yoongi listened to music the whole time. On his way home he though of all the new reasons why he was excited for school to start.
