"Hey fag! Your little boyfriend isn't here to protect you now." One of Brice's goons yelled as Hobi walked home from the dance studio. At this point he was used to the constant abuse, in a way Yoongi was his protecter and now he was gone. The older boy bumped into Hoseok as he walked. Hobi walked faster, tugging his dance bag closer and trying to ignore the crude comments. The numb skull was being persistent though, he followed Hoseok bombarding his with homophobic slurs. After five minutes of constant insults Hoseok broke his passive facade."What the fuck is wrong with being gay? Hun? Why is that your biggest insult?" Hoseok snapped. He had enough. It was fine when he had Yoongi around because it was an equally shared assault. This was just too much for one person to handle. Hobi's question seemed to puzzle the goon, he was probably in shock that shy little Hobi actually said something.
"I...uh...i-i don't... I don't know. It's just kinda... weird to like... it's unnatural." The bigger boy barely shuttered out. Hoseok just rolled his eyes and kept walking. The older boy started following him again. He didn't need to deal with this type of bullshit. Hobi turned around and told him to fuck off. This time the idiot walked the other way and left Hoseok in peace for once. It's safe to say that the summer Yoongi left, was the worst summer of Hoseok's life. But he wouldn't be the person he is without having experienced it.
.......Hoseok spent a lot of time alone in the dance studio during the summer. He had managed to sweet talk one of the instructors into lending him a key. It also partially helped that the instructor was friends with Jiwoo. During the summertime the studio didn't have any classes but Hoseok didn't need that to dance. He just needed the space, what better space then the dance studio.
The friends Hoseok had previously made in school began to ignore him. Turns out the only reason they hung out with Hobi in the first place was because of Yoongi. Turns out Yoongi moving away was going to affect him more then expected. Not spending time with Hoseok's school friends meant that he didn't spend a lot of time with Seokjin either. The older was too wrapped up in that friend group to want to spend time around Hoseok.
During the school year Hobi had become very distant with a lot of his other friends. By the time summer came around none of his other friends wanted to spend time with him. It was very upsetting, but at least Hoseok had dance. He could spend hours memorizing choreography and terms, filling his brain with art and ridding it of negative thought. It worked most days but some days were really bad.
Hoseok couldn't help but feel lonely. He hadn't realized just how much time he spent with Yoongi, you don't know what you've got until it's gone. The first month of summer was a difficult adjustment period but afterwards things started looking up. With the end of the month brought Yoongi's visit, Hoseok had been counting down the days until he'd see his best friend again. The day Yoongi was supposed to arrive Hoseok waited in the driveway for hours until Yoongi appeared.
Yoongi's father's old beat up car pulled into the driveway at around three o'clock. Yoongi was immediately bombarded with hugs by both his mother and Hoseok. Yoongi was excited to see the pair of them. It had only been a month but it felt like an eternity. In the month Yoongi was gone he hadn't changed much, he did however have a few holes punched into his ears. He wore subtle stud earrings, his mom didn't seem to notice but Hobi did.
"Already rebelling?" Hoseok whispered under his breath, nudging Yoongi's shoulder. Yoongi just smiled at the younger's remark.
"This is just the beginning." Yoongi responded, Hoseok laughed in return and the two boys walked up the old concrete stairs.
......."I don't know anyone there, no one wants to know me. I'm hoping it'll be different when school starts but I'm not so sure it will be." Yoongi said to Hoseok, they had moved from the older's house to their oak tree. Yoongi seemingly hated his 'new life' and his father was not helping matters. Apparently his father is forcing him to try out for the basketball team, he also isn't finding Yoongi's piano lessons. If he wants to keep up with lessons he needs to pay for it himself. It was after that little incident that Yoongi pierced his own ears... he did it as retaliation. Hoseok was being sarcastic about the teenage rebellion thing but it was true.
