Sinagtala Grocery Store
Benji and Sinag started working and treated themselves civily at the start of the day. Unlike the previous day, Benji stayed with Sinag in the office to explain all store procedures and policies that he thinks would confuse her.
It was a smooth orientation since everything that they talked about was work. Sinag listens attentively to Benji, though there are times that she could not resist herself on staring at him whenever he gets busy on something else. Same goes with Benji, his favorite part of the orientation are those times that Sinag gets busy understanding the documents he asked her to study because those are the only chances that he could freely stares at her.
Tatay Teddy sends lunch for then, but Benji was out when the food arrived. Helen, her schoolmate in high school was the one who brought the food for them.
“Ma’am Sinag, gusto mo po bang ayusin ko na sa pantry itong food nyo ni Sir Benji?” Helen asked
Sinag did not reply immediately as she is not expecting an encounter such as this with her high school rival in the valedictorian honors. This is the girl who steals the honors that she prayed and worked hard for.
“Ako na lang ang bahala, ilagay mo na lang dyan” she gruffly said then Helen puts the food on the round table located at the corner of the room. “Wag mo dyan ilagay, baka tumapon yan sa mga documents at sa laptop ni Benji. Dito mo na lang ilagay sa side table ko” she coldly said
Helen shyly followed her instruction. She felt Helen’s awkwardness. A portion of her says that it is alright to treat her impolitely. She thought that Helen deserves this kind of treatment from her. But another portion of her tells her that let go of the past because it is obvious that fate already get even to Helen for her. She prefers to continue reviewing her documents and choose not to start the conversation with her.
Helen stood for while because she thought that maybe that chance she is waiting for to finally apologize to her for everything that she and Trisha have done to her. She knows how important the valedictorian honors to Sinag but it was important for her too. The scholarship would help her parents to ease their burden of sending her and her other four siblings in good school. But, she wasted the chance, she screwed up. Sunshine noticed that she is still standing at the corner of the room while staring at her.
“Ok na Helen, you may leave now” Sunshine said
This is not the Sinagtala Obispo that she knows. The Sinagtala Obispo that she knows was very polite, kind and warm hearted. But can she blame her for treating her this way? Helen walks to the door to leave Sinag alone in the room but upon reaching the door he took a deep sigh and gathered the remaining strength in her.
“Ma’am Sinag, may gusto po akong sabihin sa inyo” Helen bravely said
“Ano yun, paki bilis na lang kasi marami pa akong gagawin” Sunshine asked without looking at her. She is starting to feel annoyed as she sees Helen just trying to get some sympathy from her.
“Gusto ko lang humingi ng tawad” Helen said
“Bakit may ginawa ka bang hindi maganda sa trabaho? Tell that to Benji or to Tatay, technically I am in no position to accept your apology kung may mali sa trabaho mo” Sunshine replied
“I’m sorry sa ginawa namin ni Trisha sa iyo nung high school pa tayo” Helen humbly uttered
“That was almost eight years ago Helen, masyado nang late ang apology mo” Sunshine straightly replied
