"I'm home!" You called our after you and your Lucario had entered the house and closed the door. Today tired you out quite a bit, especially since Sir Aaron's Lucario kept complaining the whole time. But that was probably because the two of you had to hold hands - or well, hand and paw - to perform the aura-transfer training. You would have preferred holding Aaron's hand if you were being honest.

Camilla and Lopunny were nowhere to be seen in the kitchen nor living room, so you assumed they were in your room. You told Lucario to go on ahead and that you would take a quick shower before joining her and the other girls.

After you were done with that and had changed into your pajamas, you went to your room, only to find Camilla in her bed and reading a book. Lopunny lay next to her curled up in a small ball. "Hey Camilla."

"Y-Y/N! I'm so sorry, I was reading and didn't hear you coming in!" The caramel haired female stuttered while sitting up. You waved her off and flashed her a bright smile as you sat on the edge of her bed. "Don't worry about that. How did it go today?"

"It was alright, I guess. The preliminary exam was a written test, and I passed. Now I'm invited to the castle tomorrow again." Camilla explained and turned a page in her book. She didn't look so excited about it. "How come you're not happy about it?"

"D-Don't get me wrong, I'm really glad I passed. I'm relieved too, but there was something weird and it keeps bothering me." Your best friend admitted and closed the book she apparently decided to read at some other point.

You frowned slightly, assuming the lack of excitement was due to a certain blonde. "Did Loraine do something to you?" Camilla shook her head at your question. "What was it then?"

"Remember how I told you that we were supposed to be ten contestants?" Camilla asked on which you nodded. You clearly remembered her mentioning that yesterday. "Well, only seven girls showed up if we exclude me. It sounds somewhat suspicious, doesn't it?"

"I guess it does sound a bit weird. Maybe they were simply sick?" You said, trying not to think of worse scenarios. Camilla sighed and agreed with you. "In any case, it's not only me who passed. There's five of us candidates left, so I really need to get my beauty sleep."

"Of course." You chuckled and stood up, soon climbing into your own bed. Lucario joined you and Camilla turned the lights in the room off. "Goodnight.~ Make sure to wake me in case you get up earlier than me."

Camilla, You and your Pokémon of course were already at the main gates of the Cameran castle. You were so proud to be wearing the knight clothes you had received just yesterday.

The surprising thing was that both Sir Aaron and Sir Doni were seemingly waiting for your arrival at that gate instead of in front of the training grounds. "Good morning, my Sweeties.~ There's been a small change of plans." The blond knight said, swinging his arm around Camilla who was dressed nicely as soon as he got the chance to. "A change of plans?"

"Yes, the queen requested our presence." Aaron explained shortly. You felt honored to be requested by her majesty herself despite having just started apprenticing as knight.

The two men and Sir Aaron's Lucario lead you through the palace and to the hall the Queen had asked you all to attend. On the way there, the dark blue haired knight filled you in on the current situation: "You may have heard about this already, but the queen is holding a contest to decide who should be the kingdom's next princess apprentice, and so, the queen and the five remaining candidates are having a meeting at the castle today. It's to get to know each other better, or so I was told."
