"What's taking him so long..." You mumbled, performing odd movements with your feet since you stood outside near the entrance gates of the castle where Aaron had asked you to wait. The guards stationed near you were starting to shoot suspicious glances at you.
"Lady Y/N.~ You're alone?" Someone with an unfamiliar voice called out, gaining your attention. It was the white haired knight you had met in the dining hall, even if it was quite rushed. "Remember me?"
"Sir Tristan, of course." You replied, bowing respectfully as a way to greet him again. It was the first time you met a knight of a different division, and it just so happened that this man's last name was Kenji, like the one of your possibly future step-siblings. "I hope you don't mind my asking, but are you related with Yasen and Myron?"
"You're as sharp as they say.~" The golden eyed male smirked once he was close enough to you in order to hold a conversation. His comment made you wonder what kind of rumors were being told about you and who spread them. "I'm actually their cousin. Devon is my uncle."
"Yasen has told me a lot about you. It's a shame, but I can't stay too long. Our schedules are packed." Sir Tristan sighed, looking at his three teammates who were slowly but surely approaching him. It seemed to you like he and Yasen were rather close. That might be one of the consequences for Yasen not being too fond of the family on his biological mother's part. "Let's talk again sometime, okay?"
"Alright. Have a nice day." You smiled, waving at the young man who was exiting the gates with the other second division knights. Not paying much attention to your surroundings, you were almost startled by Aaron's voice once he had caught up with you. "Tristan, huh..."
"Sorry to have made you wait." The dark blue haired male flashed you a smile. You couldn't help but return the gesture. What you didn't expect was Aaron getting down on one of his knees and taking a hold of your hand, placing a kiss on it as an apology for being late. "A-Aaron, you don't need to go as far as to-... It's no big d-deal!"
The taller stood up again and grinned at your flustered reaction, soon wiping the dirt off his pants. He then took your hand and started leading you to another area of the palace. "W-Weren't we going to take a walk in the village?"
"Mhm, but there's been a small change of plans." Aaron hummed as you two slowly approached what seemed to be the castle's stable. The small change of plans was probably that you'd be riding on Mudsdale instead of going by foot. Your assumption was proven right the moment you entered the stable.
"It looks like the guards took the bridles off of them. Would you mind helping me saddle the Mudsdale?" The dark blue haired knight asked, glancing over at you as soon as he noticed the small alteration that had been done to the equine creatures. "Of course not.~"
On your way to grab the bridles, you asked Aaron if the saddles were necessary too. But since both of you had gotten used to riding on Mudsdale without saddles, neither of you saw the need for those and agreed on going without them.
"Here you go." You said, handing Aaron his share of the equipment before approaching the equine creature with the red string in it's mane. That was the Mudsdale you rid on on your way to Grona and which had started trusting you more ever since the Pineco-incident in the forest.
It behaved so calmly when you put the bridle on it and didn't even try resisting you. It was almost surprising that it felt so much more at ease with you. What was also surprising was to hear that Aaron seemed to be having troubles equipping his Pokémon. "Come on, what's the matter?"
