Camry's pov
We were all sitting in the living room. I was on the couch. Daniel was on the other end, and Val was in a recliner.
"He hasn't came back?" I asked them.
"I'm pretty sure we know where he is, though," Daniel sighed.
"I can't believe our whole relationship was a lie," I picked at my nails.
"It wasn't. He actually had feelings for you. I don't know what happened to him. I can promise you that it was real," Daniel told me.
"Until he started cheating on me with Aspen," I added.
"Cam, please don't worry about him," Val begged.
"Don't worry about him?" I looked up at her. "We have been best friends for our whole lives, and then he tells me that he wished we never met! I loved him, and he cheated on me! How am I not supposed to worry about him?! I still care about him! I still have feelings for him! I still love him!"
Daniel and Val stayed silent.
"I need some time," I sighed before getting up and grabbing my keys and my phone.
I flung the door open, and right before I walked out, Daniel grabbed my hand.
"Where are you going?" he asked, worried.
"Daniel... Let me go," I told him.
He stood there for a second before letting go of my hand. I walked out of my house and slammed the door. I got in my car and drove off. I didn't know where I was going, so I just drove. I had been driving for 30 minutes. I ended up at a small beach. There was barely anyone there. I left my phone in the car and started walking down to the water. I walked down the side of the beach. The sun was starting to set. There was a slight breeze, and it was a beautiful view. I saw a pier and started walking towards it. Once I got there, I didn't see really anyone around. Maybe a few people. I walked all the way to the end and leaned on the wooden railing. I took in the view of the sunset. That's when someone walked up beside me. I looked over, and it was Mason.
"What are you doing here?" he asked me.
"It's a long story," I shrugged. "You?"
"I honestly don't know," he smiled softly.
"Why do we always meet when my life is a mess?" I asked him.
"Maybe we are just connected like that," he joked.
I laughed slightly.
"I'm sorry that I left you. I had to go back," he told me.
"It's okay. Your family is back in Michigan while you are here. Plus, you live there," I said.
"Maybe I should just move here," he said, seriously.
"I wouldn't stop you," I blurted.
He smiled, but then it faded. He glanced at my lips before leaning in. Our lips connected. It was a slow and passionate kiss. We pulled away slowly.
"I missed that," he said, his lips still inches from mine.
"I really should be heading back," I snapped back into reality. "I left Val at my house by herself."
"Can we do something tomorrow?" he asked.
"I'd like that," I smiled.
He pulled me closer by the waist and kissed me. I pulled away slowly.
"Okay, I really have to go," I laughed.
"Okay, okay. I'll text you tomorrow," he laughed as well.
I walked back to my car and hopped in the driver seat. I picked up my phone to see what time it was. 8:30. It was earlier than I thought. I had texts from Daniel and Val.
~
Val: Please come back soon.
Val: I'm starting to get worried.
Val: You left 2 hours ago. Where are you?
Val: I know you're mad at me just please answer me.
Val: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you by what I said. Just please come back.
Val: Let me know that you're okay.
~I left her on read. Then I went to Daniel's messages.
~
Daniel: I'm sorry.
Daniel: I just felt like I needed to say that.
Daniel: Please come back.
Daniel: Val and I are worried.
~I didn't answer him either. I drove straight back to my house, which took another 30 minutes. I didn't get to my house until around 10 because of all the traffic. I walked inside, and Daniel and Val were still in the same spots they were in when I had left.
"Camryn Ashely Smith! Don't scare me like that ever again!" Val yelled before running up to hug me.
"I told you, I needed some time," I told her calmly.
Then Daniel came up and hugged me.
"I was so worried," Daniel whispered.
"I'm fine," I told him.
We pulled away, and Val stared at me intensely.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"You're lips are swollen," she pointed out.
"Okay, and?" I touched my lips.
"Who have you been kissing?" she questioned.
I looked over at Daniel, but he gave me the same look Val was giving me. He actually looked a little hurt, though. I looked at the ground.
"Cam," Val sighed.
"No one, okay?" I answered.
"It's obviously someone," she said. "You literally just got done crying over Jack, and now you are already kissing on someone else."
"This is me trying to not worry about him," I reminded her of what she had told me.
"Well if you're going to go try to get your mind off Jack by kissing someone, I'd rather you kiss Daniel than with someone I don't know," she folded her arms.
"Why does it matter if you know them or not?" I questioned.
"Because I want them to actually care about you and not just throw you around like you don't even matter. I'm trying to look out for you," she sighed.
I considered that thought.
"I'm going to go take a shower," Val told me before walking to to the bathroom with her bag and shutting the door.
That left Daniel and I standing there alone.
