Melissa had spent the night in Joe's room the night before, as Nick and her hadn't still made up. Everyone in the house were wondering why there was so much tension between the two young teens.
"Merry Christmas Eve!" Melissa exclaimed as she made her way down the stairs and saw Aunt Denise sitting on the couch, nursing a hot cup of coffee.
"Happy Quaziggyziggyzam Yo!" Joe said, following Melissa down the stairs.
She looked back at him, "Joseph, what did I tell you? You don't say that... it's stupid!" she giggled, a smile on her face for a few seconds but then it disappeared instantly.
Melissa went to sit next to her Godmother, "did he say anything last night?" she asked, referring to Nick.
She didn't want to care, she really didn't... but she loved the boy more than anything, so of course; her naive self cared. ———- Upstairs in Nick's room the night before, he had been busy writing a song. Doing what he did best, getting his feelings out in lyrics.
He couldn't live with the fact that he had hurt her, made her feel like she couldn't trust him. He truly hated himself at that moment.
"Don't cry, or do whatever makes you feel comfortable I'm tired, too There's nothin' left to say, let's call a truce 'Cause I don't really wanna go to bed like this" ——— Denise looked over at the young girl, and sighed, "he didn't say anything, no. But he did go to bed with his guitar in hand and a notepad, so I'm guessing he stayed up half the night writing." she explained, and at that moment Melissa knew how much he was hurting too.
She quickly got up, hurrying up the stairs and made her way to the room she had grown to know, the room that helped her totally fall in love with him.
"I'm so sorry We're still stuck in the middle I'm so sorry 'Cause in the moment I I don't know what it's like to be you I don't know what it's like but I'm dying to If I could put myself in your shoes Then I know what it's like to be you"
She knocked on the door softly, not getting an answer, but she went in anyways, knowing her boyfriend would be asleep. And just like she guessed, he was laying there, clutching the blanket close to him. They hadn't spent a night apart since 2004. If he was out of town, they'd be on a phone call, Nick helping the young girl fall asleep.
Last night had been hell for the two of them. She had ended up cuddling with Joe of all people, because she just needed that comfort from someone... anyone.
