{December 10th, 2016 Newark Liberty International Airport Nick- 24|Mel-22}
The days dragged on, and soon it was the time that Nick would be coming home for a while. Melissa was beyond excited, so she had made a sign that said "JONAS" in big bolded letters. She had been standing in the airport, by the terminal he would eventually be coming out of.
Nick texted her once the plane had landed, letting her know that he was safe.
As he was walking up to her, Melissa's heart was racing and she just was beyond happy that the couple were finally reunited.
"I missed you so much." he mumbled, holding her tight to his chest. "Don't ever be away from me for that long again... it felt like half of me wasn't even here." he sighed, his face pressed softly into her neck.
"I won't baby... promise." she whispered, her little fingers rubbing soothing motions along his curly hair.
Pulling back from the embrace for just a second, their lips collided and it felt like the whole world had stopped. Like it was just the two of them, standing in the crowded airport with the paparazzi and fans snapping pictures all around them.
"We better go, before the media has a field day..." he mumbled, their foreheads pressed together.

"So Dad will have his colonoscopy tomorrow morning?" Nick asked his mom who he was on the phone with. Melissa's head shot up as she heard what they were talking about, "what's going on?" she mouthed to her boyfriend, her eyes going wide.
Melissa made her way over to him, resting a hand on his shoulder reassuringly, and he reached up holding onto it gently. "...yeah, just let us know how it goes, do you want us to come up there to sit with you? We wouldn't mind Mom... yup, yeah... well, tell dad we love him, and love you too Mom, yup... bye." Nick finished.
Once he had hung up the phone, he turned to his girlfriend and wrapped his arms around her torso, his head resting below her breasts. "They think this could be cancerous." he let out a strained cry, his hands clutching onto the material of the shirt Melissa was wearing.
Melissa's head was spinning, no one ever thought that it would come to this... that this small surgery that Kevin Sr. would have to endure could possibly end in such a drastic way.
"Shhh babe. Everything will be okay..." she whispered, leaning down and kissing the soft curls atop of his head. Her little hands running through them as well.
