Nick's Apartment
NYC
Nick-23|Mel-21}She really just needed a place to relax. At least that was what she thought...
Things weren't doing all that well in Ohio, so she had gotten in her car and drove the almost 8 hour drive to NYC. She really didn't know what was calling her to the Big Apple, maybe it was because she loved the rambunctious city... or maybe it was cause the one person she loved, lived there.
She had stopped talking to Harry a few weeks back, shortly after that trip to the recording studio. She had no idea if Nick would be at his apartment, or off somewhere getting the new tour ready that is set to start in the next couple of months with Demi Lovato.
He had given her a key one of the first times that they had seen each other after the breakup, saying, "if you need anything... no matter if I'm home or not. You always can come to mine, to relax... destress... or just have a change of scenery."
She hadn't ever used the key, never really thought of using it till now... the smooth metal slid into the lock, unlocking the wooden door and then quickly locking it behind her.
Melissa missed him, she quite honestly missed him more than anything. She knew deep down that the closest she could get to being with him at that moment, was to be in his apartment.
Her soft footsteps were heard making their way to the kitchen, and she smiled weakly at the familiar surroundings. She opened the door, grabbing a bottle of water and gulped down some before making her way back to the front area of the apartment.
There was too much quietness... she couldn't handle it.
"What to do... what to do?" she mumbled to herself, glancing around at how fancy the semi-small apartment was.
Her small body moved around the apartment, cleaning up random areas. She knew Nick like the back of her hand, so seeing that he wasn't all that clean still didn't surprise her at all.
Within an hour or so, she made her way to his couch, snuggled up in soft fabric. She laid her phone beside her head, with the ringer off and began to doze off within minutes.

Nick's anxiety was getting the better of him, Melissa always answered his texts when he contacted her. Even with them not together at that time.He was currently on his way home from the studio, his thoughts in a million different directions. His hands held onto the steering wheel just a little tighter as he tried to not let his anxiousness take over him.
As he made his way up to his apartment, he was on the phone with Cindy, "Yah, she's not texting me back. I don't know what happened to her, let me call my mom and see if she's down in Texas. I'll call you back as soon as I know anything... yup... yup. Love you too." the phone call soon ended and he took in a deep breath.
As he opened the door to his apartment, his brown eyes scrunched in confusion as he saw the kitchen light on. Didn't he shut off all the lights before he left that morning?
He went to the said room, bypassing his ex that was fast asleep on the couch and did the same thing that Melissa had done... grabbed a bottle of water and chugged it almost immediately.
He soon made his way to the living room, seeing something he didn't expect to see... Melissa.
He grinned, walking over to the other couch, grabbing the blanket that Melissa had given to him about a year ago and draped it over her small body.
After kissing her head and watching her sleep for just a few seconds, he went to change into some more comfier clothing.
As the young girl slept, he went to do some work on his computer in the small office he had set up. He started making the phone calls to Melissa's mother, and also his mother to let them know the girl was safe and sound.
After a couple of hours, he began whipping up some type of dinner, making some spaghetti for the two of them. Even though no matter how much he went by the cookbooks, he never could get things to taste right.
Melissa soon woke up, hearing soft music coming from the kitchen. She got off the couch and wrapped the blanket that had been upon her; around her small body and made her way to the kitchen.
"Hey there beautiful." Nick smiled at her, as he stirred the noodles that were boiling away in the pot.
"H-Hi." she mumbled, and leaned against the counter.
"Is there a reason behind why you disappeared, then reappeared in my apartment?" he asked, turning to look at her.
"Mom and Dave were fighting and I had no where else to go... my anxiety was rising and I felt like as if I was gonna have a panic episode, so I came to the only place I knew I was safe." she explained, taking in a deep breath as she came up and leaned her body against his back gently.
"You are always welcome here, ya know that angel?" he asked, not having to turn around to know what she was thinking.
"I know... thank you. But I was also having anxiety because of the fact that I was coming over to my fucking ex's house..." she said quietly, hoping that he wouldn't hear her muffled words.
"And there's nothing wrong with that. You are my best friend, no matter if you're my girlfriend or not. I will always be here for you." he promised going and straining the noodles and he placed them back in the pan on a different burner.
He turned around to look into her eyes, his hands on her covered arms. "You know that part about us, has never changed. I love you." he whispered, kissing her forehead gently.
"And I love you." she mumbled, resting against him, her eyes closing in content.
