Melissa and Nick's Hotel Room}

The weeks flew by since the Happiness Begins Tour officially ended in Europe, and things were finally getting back to normal for the lovely couple.

Even if the whole world was just about to come crumbling down for not only the billions of people everywhere; but also Nick and Melissa.

The boys were currently in rehearsal for the residency, while the Jonas Sisters were stuck up in the hotel room, doing God only knows.

The brunette-purple headed girl hadn't felt all that great within the past few hours, just brushing off the odd feeling. Ever since they had gotten to Vegas, the nausea had thankfully subsided, and oddly so did all the other pregnancy symptoms as well.

All three girls had decided it would be fun to take a little "field trip" to the Park Theatre to watch the last bit of rehearsal. So they all were getting ready in their respective rooms.

Suddenly as Melissa stood up from getting her pants on, there was a sharp pain coursing through her slightly swollen stomach. A few seconds later there was a liquid making its way down her thighs.

She hunched over as the pain was unbearable, desperately clutching onto her tummy. Time moved slowly, and so did she as Sophie and Danielle made their grand entrance into the tense hotel room.

"What's taking you so long boo—?" Sophie asked, as the two Jonas wives stopped in their tracks, seeing the sight in front of them.

"Something's wrong guys." Melissa let out a pained cry, trying to bite back the scream that was wanting to come out.

"She's stable right now Nick, but you need to get here ASAP. They said she lost the baby." Sophie said softly, as her back leaned against the cold hospital wall.

"I'm on my way, as fast as I can Soph." The curly headed Jonas replied, trying to stop the tears from flooding out of his chocolate brown eyes.

"Just hurry the hell up Jonas." her voice wavering. No one had expected this to happen, none of them even knew how to handle this sort of heartbreak. As Kevin and Danielle hadn't gone through it, both of the girls' were healthy as could be.

The doctor stood in front of Melissa's bed, holding the clipboard to her chest, "I'm sorry to inform you Ms. Wood, but you have gone through a miscarriage. That liquid you felt earlier was when it had occurred. I give you my condolences." She walked out a few seconds later, to leave the young girl to take in everything happening at that moment.

"I'm here!" Nick ran into the hospital room, his heart breaking even more as his eyes laid on his shattered fiancé, "oh Angel..." he mumbled. Immediately he took the girl into his arms, not being able to hold in his emotions either.

"I-I... I'm so sorry Nick..." she sobbed, her hands clutching onto his shirt for dear life. "I don't know what I-I did wrong..." she tore herself down with every word she spoke, "They said the baby w-was so weak... t-the umbilical c-cord was w-wrapped around h-her n-ne—" her voice gave out, she couldn't even finish what she was saying.

"Shhh angel... we will get our 🌈 rainbow baby one day. I promise." his cracking voice whispered in her ear. "I'm just thankful you're safe. I'm so sorry I wasn't there with you." Nick apologized, looking into her bloodshot eyes.

"We will get through this together. It's you and me, remember?" he coaxed her, resting his forehead against hers, "I love you so much Melissa Lynn." he mumbled.

{A Week Later:}

"I don't know what to do mom, she hasn't come out of the hotel room in days. Is barely eating, speaking... nothing." Nick said softly into his phone as he got his guitar ready to go to rehearsal.

He knew things were getting worse all over the world, that they would evidentially have to cancel the whole Vegas Residency, due to the pandemic.... but they still rehearsed just in case things didn't come to an end.

"Just give her some room to breathe Nicholas, her body just went through the most traumatic thing it could. She is probably still trying to come to grips as well that there is nothing she could've done to change this.

"Give her a few hours, go to your rehearsal, and call her on a break, or just text her. Keep telling her you love her and are right there if she wants to talk. I know you're scared that she will feel tempted... but she's a strong girl." Denise told her son, hoping that the words she was speaking was the thing he needed to hear at that moment.

"Thank you mom, I've gotta get going, I love you."

"And I love you too."
——

Nick made his way into the bedroom portion of the spacious hotel room, sighing as he saw his fiancé laying there staring at the wall, with a blank look on her beautiful face.

"Hey, Angel. I'm gonna go to rehearsal, if you need me, you know I'm just a call away. Okay? I love you." he leaned across the bed, making sure he connected eyes with her, pressing a few soft, but loving kisses on her forehead, "I'll see you later baby girl." he whispered.

"Love y-you too b-babe." her hoarse voice whispered, making Nick's heart flutter, knowing that things were slowly but surely getting better. Even if it was just a small step forward.
——-
Her whole body felt numb, completely and utterly empty on the inside. Like as if she was void of every emotion she should've been feeling at that time was ripped from her.

Those horrible words the doctor had told her replaced the silence that surrounded her in the air.

The moment she had lost their precious little angel replayed in her head constantly. The blood. The red liquid that she'd felt between her thighs as she doubled over in excruciating pain. It was their baby telling her that she was fading away—that she had lost the one thing she loved just as much as that curly headed man.

Their baby was gone.

She knew she needed to get up, to move around. Not let the depression take over her completely. Her small booty slid off the spacious bed and she began walking towards the kitchen part of their room.

As if it was a reflex, her hand landed on her tummy. Sadness, and frustration instantly made its way into her eyes, causing tears to well up faster than ever.

She grabbed a cold bottle of water out of the small-ish fridge, and chugged less than half the bottle. She was dehydrated... that isn't good for the bab—... oh wait.

Another puncture to the heart, causing the wound to grow ten times bigger, "AHHHHH!" she screamed, throwing the bottle across the kitchen not even caring if there was water splattered everywhere.

Her small frame slid down the cabinet behind her, and she began sobbing uncontrollably. A loud banging shattered the silence in the room. "MELISSA? ARE YOU OKAY?" Sophie and Danielle frantically yelled.

The girls ran in, the door slamming behind them, "babe!" Sophie cried, hating seeing her best friend/Jonas sister in this state.

Danielle instantly knelt in front of her, "you're okay... everything will be okay." she soothed.

"No! It w-wont! I lost the one thing I wanted most in this world! I must've done something wrong. I didn't protect her!" Melissa gasped for air, her nails digging into her palms, trying to cause more pain.

Sophie saw the motions, and reached down to take her hands, "no you didn't. You did everything right. You cherished and loved her, but God knew she wasn't the right fit. You will get another beautiful baby one day. I promise."
