Chapter 21
Shattered Memories
"Come in." I called cheerfully to Evan, waving him in, and he followed me through the threshold of my shared apartment.
Evan smiled at me as he strutted into my apartment, shutting the door behind us. The whole place was untouched, dust settled on the old wooden side tables. I quickly kicked off my light blue flip-flops, and half-hearted ran into the living area, and flopped tiredly onto the large couch.
"Phew! I'm exhausted!" I moaned, stretching my tired corps across the fake leather, wincing as I heard my back pop. I watched Evan smirk at me before sitting cross-legged on the hardwood floor in front of me. I smiled, laying across the couch to be eye level with Evan, except for everything looked sideways to me.
I patted his head, his soft brown hair tickling my hand. "You look so cute, like a little puppy from this angle."
Evan laughed, his eyes twinkling. "You are too cute when you're tired." He poked me on the nose, and I scrunched up my face. Attractive, I know.
"I'm not that tired." I muttered, pouting at him.
"Yes you are babe." Evan said laughingly, then kissed me on the forehead. I felt electricity in the air as we were just centimetres apart. I looked into his deep eyes softly.
"Will you stay with me tonight? I hate being alone. Liz is at Josh's." I whispered, his deep green eyes locked into mine, my wide eyes pleading.
He smiled softly, brushing a piece of my hair behind my ear. He lent closer and placed a peck on my lips. My heart beat fluttered as fast a humming bird wings, blood rushing to my face.
"Yeah sure." Evan said, smiling lopsidedly. I kissed him quickly on the lips.
I stood up, smoothing out my shorts that were riding up, I smiled widely at him.
"I'm going to go upstairs and change. Be right back!" I called over my shoulder, as I tore up the stairs.
Butterflies fluttered in my stomach, I knew that tonight I would fall asleep in his arms.
I quickly changed into a pair of pajama shorts, pulling on an T-Shirt then topping it with a hoodie. I left my hair down, which flowed out in beach waves.
"I'm coming! Grab the popcorn will ya?" I called down to Evan as I ran down the stairs. On the last step, I stumbled, tripping over myself as I flew face first onto the hardwood flooring.
You know when you read those romance books, and the guy runs over in record time and catches you? Well that dosen't happen when the guy is a room away.
"Ow..." I groaned, rolling onto my back lazily.
"Whoa, easy tiger." Evan laughed as he smoothly lifted me up, and set me on my feet. His arms still in-circled my waist. I looked deeply into his sparkling eyes as we were centimetres apart.
"Popcorn?" I asked, cocking my eyebrow up. I wiggled out of his arms and into the kitchen.
"Tease." He muttered, as he followed me.
"Evan!' I exclaimed. "What the hell is this?" I pointed to the microwave, which was set to 21:2 minutes, with the popcorn package still wrapped in the plastic. Black smoke was spilling out of the sides of the door.
How does one even do that?
He cocked his head to the side, looking confused. I desperately stopped the microwave, yanking the steaming thing out.
"Well, it says to put it in for 21/2 minutes!" He explained, pointing to the smoking bag.
I gave him a blank look. "It says two and a half minutes. And you remove the plastic."
