Chapter 22
Drops of Rain
Drip, Drip, Drip, Drip, Drip.
I stared out into the dull grey evening sky, watching intently to the rain drops hitting against the window sill. The drops were a steady beat, something realiable, something I could channel my focus into.
"And-- Sophie! Are you even listening?" Liz snapped suddenly, intrupting her ramble and waving her hand infront of my face.
"What? Oh sorry." I mumbled, snapping out of my depressing trance. I removed the hand that had my chin perched on it, turning my head to face her.
Liz's face softened into another sympathic look.
I sighed. It had been two days since what happned with Evan, that means two days of despair, rejected phone calls, and sympathtic looks.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" Liz said with a soft expression, her dark blue eyes laced with care, making her look motherly.
"He thinks I'm cheating on him." I croaked, my voice cracking at the end. I stared down at the floor, feeling the stupid tears prick at the back of my eyes.
Arms incircled my waist, pulling me into Liz's embrace. I sat there, motionless. I felt so sluggish, so dirty. Ryan had been sending me those VoiceMails, why? We wern't dating anymore!
I sniffed, opening my eyes wide, trying to keep the tears back that were threatening to spill over.
"Why in the fucking world did Ryan leave those damn messages?!" I shouted, standing abruptly out of the over-stuffed chair I had once occupied. Anger sizzled through my body, making my hands curl into fists.
My heart beated quickly at my sudden change of emotion, suprising myself with my sudden outburst of energey. I strutted across the living room in a few long strides. I really wasn't sure what to do with all this excess energey. Is this why guys punch walls in movies? I could use a punch in the wall now...
I faced myself towards the dark green wall, energey pulsing through me. Anger was blinding me, well I guess I've always wanted to say 'I punched a hole in the wall!'
I drew back my fist, hesitating for a split second. Then I threw it against the mint wall with a mighty force.
"OUCH DAMNNIT!" I yelped, jumping back, clutching my hand in pain. My hand burst with pain, bouncing off the wall and somehow threw me to the ground.
I dusted myself off, examining my hand. There was a mark across my knuckles, a small trickle of blood running down my hand. Standing up, I went over to the wall, expecting a dent from the heavy impact.
Insted, all I found was a tiny sploch of my own blood.
"Stupid wall..." I grumbled, turning away from the godforsaken evil devil wall. I should get that one removed, then replace it with a softer one.
"Are you okay?" Liz shouted from the other room, amusment hinted in her worried voice. I furrowed my eyebrows, my mood darkening.
"Yeah, just the wall... Er... Attacked me." I called back grumpily. Suddenly, an idea popped ino my mind, creating a imaginary lightbulb over my head. "I'm going to the gym!"
The Gym, an unfamiliar idea to me. I've been once or twice when Gracie had dragged me along, but never gone on my own. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't some lazy girl with no physical strength, I am on the High School Girls Soccer team, we just would always pratice and train outside. It would be good way to spen this angery energy, to through myself into pyshical activity. Forget things for a while.
