Chapter 28
Accidents (Part Two)
Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
The heart monitor continued beeping, the only thing keeping me sane. It was the reason why I stayed in this sparkling white trap. It was my hope.
Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
I grasped Evan's hand, clutching it close to my heart. I felt pain in all my body, the emotion so strong it was physical.
I closed my eyes, hoping for a mircal.
My heart was racing. My mind has stopped spinning, I was calm. Peacfull.
Doctors rushed in, yelling and screaming. I was pushed back, orders being shot at me. I was confused, standing, watching.
Reaslising.
The beeping had stopped.
~~~~~~~~~~
My eyes snapped open. A bloodcurling scream left my lips as I sat up abruptly.
I clutched my chest, I was dripping with a cold sweat.
Everyone was startled, running over with alert.
"What happened?" Ev asked, concerned. "Night terrors?"
I shook my head, tears freely spilling out of my eyes. A few questioning looks from the boys were shot at her as they didn't know about 'the night terrors'.
I couldn't speak, not yet anyways. My heart kept throbbing in my chest, pounding against my rig cage with a strong force. A lump the size of a golf ball was stuck in my throat.
"Then what happened?" Adam questioned.
"Evan was dead." I whispered, sobbing into the chest of the person next to me.
The person smelled of aftershave, and he patted my head awkwardly. I sobbed into his sweater.
Silence erupted through out everyone.
"Well. He isn't." Evelyn reassured.
I nodded. I re-collected myself and sat upright into the same, cold, stiff metal chairs. My legs were numb, and even though I had been sleeping for the past hour, I was still exhausted.
"Where is he?" I asked. "Why isn't he out yet?"
"He'll be out real soon." Evelyn reassured, rubbing my back. I'm glad I have her in these situations. Most of my friends had left to go home, they kept persisting that they were fine, but their zombie faces told me that they needed to go home.
All were left, was Evelyn, Mark, Blake, Michael, Shawn, Chris, Xavier, Adam, and of course myself.
We still were waiting for Evan.
People advised me to go home, but this was the man I love in that operating room.
I couldn't go home. Nothing could make me walk out of those white doors without him. Sounds crazy, stubborn, but what would you do if your Soulmate had been attacked and was in the hospital, with a strong 30% chance of never waking again?
Thoughts were buzzing through my slow, dull mind.
A doctor came running towards us.
I stood up abruptly. I studied her expression on her face. I couldn't read anything.
